the more appropriate comp would be Chucks.

they look exactly the same now as they did in the 50s/60s when my dad was wearing them.

The beast being huge shows the exaggeration of kids. They perceived it as a huge beast and wasn’t until later that they accepted it was just a dog.

I feel sorry for people that need to point out this stuff.
They are either:
1. Unable to recognize the visual cues being used on screen to represent a kids imagination or some other nonliteral point. That’s sad. Suspension of disbelief is needed for many mediums. Including books even.
2. Or he just wants attention. And we only need one NdGT in the world.

Learning to enjoy life is a staple of maturity. It’s a great movie. Nostalgic as hell and funny. Requotable and rewatchable.
Just enjoy it.
