So, she had to ride a snowmobile just to get to the weather station. And all of sudden, she can "feel" the train rattling the floorboards, get her shite packed and sprint all the way back to the tracks on foot, only to just barely catch the tail end??

She lept from the train at night, only to arrive at the station in daylight, after she hoofed it for the last leg. For her to run that far, that fast would break the laws of physics, even in this alternate universe

Spot on. They better go with it being a hallucination. If they don't, then this is the jumping the shark moment for this show.

The only thing is if her missing the train is real, then she’s dead. They already established stopping the train is a no no and backing up could be even more problematic. And she won’t make it another 30 days on rats.

This could finally be the show where Sean Bean outlives everyone.

Watching.

I dig seeing some of the pre-launch history going on. It’s nice to see flashbacks.

I love Sean Bean, but he’s pretty terrible in this.

I don’t understand how far away this station is. Also hilarious that she gets stuck in the snow. I guess it’s a good thing she did it 100 yards from the station instead of miles. Although she tells ghost Alex that she can trek it back to the track if she had to. Getting a snowmobile stuck is a giant pain in the arse too. Zero chance she gets that unstuck on her own.

Also weird that an avalanche happens right when she gets there.

Also weird that the antenna has been standing for years in worse weather than this and it finally decides to snap and fall while she’s there. Of course I assume she’s just gonna McGuyver the shite out of it and be fine.

Wilford is brutal shooting all those people at the gates. What a psychopath.

I like getting to see how she stole the train from Wilford.

So she’s within east walking distance of the track now? Wtf? Didn’t they make it seem like this station was pretty far and in the middle of nowhere?

I see a comment on here that it could be a dream again. And I guess that is feasible. And would make way more sense. But if not that’s ridiculous. Although they’ve made a big deal about showing the balloons going up, and it’s weird they wouldn’t show the final one. Who knows.

This show is so stupid but I love it.

The thermal pocket directly under the weather station, is........convenient. What luck!

Yeah that was another thing. She had plenty of rations. But then the landslide took out her supplies. But THEN there were mice there so NBD.

Why even try to create that stupid fake drama? Just have her not face the landslide. It bugs me when writers feel like they have to throw every single thing under the sun at characters in movies or shows. There was just no need for it.

I dont know if I feel like skimming thru old episodes to see if they mentioned it, and I just missed it?

But I got the distinct sense from that dialogue, it wasnt down the street, round the corner, just past the bodega.

Plus, her suit was "low battery" upon arrival- in any circumstance, if you're on a snowmobile, and when you reach your destination, you're on low-battery.....you did some travelling

I dont know what's deadlier: the tail section of Snowpiercer or all the McGuffins surrounding Ice Station Zebra

I thought they talked about it a couple of episodes ago when it first came up, but I also didn't feel like trying to find it either. It just doesn't make much sense as it stands right now. Like someone said (you maybe?), she's close enough to feel SP in the floors of this place? Then she either jumped off the train way too early/late, or she was going about 2 mph on the snowmobile and basically only used it to help carry her shite.

Oh wow. I think I somehow managed to block Falling Skies out of my memory. I hate-watched that show all the way through though.

My best hate watch show was The Following on Fox. The threads on here mocking it were the best part of the show.

so, I'm bored....

Ep03-
12:30 Alex: "No with 6 RFB's, she'll be fine, if you can make it to the station"

12:58 Alex: "You'll be in deep drifted snow, if you have to detour thru any crevices or avalanche debris, your sled will be out of fuel by the time you get to the station"

13:05 Melanie: "Well, the sled can stay dead till I have to get back"

22:19 Alex: "....then at the highest peak, you have to get out and take the sled all the way back to the station"

Now, does that sound like a short distance from A to B?

I'm no cartographer, and there isnt a sense of true scale, but I'm going to say that's at least a few miles
...uphill
....in multiple feet of snow
.......straight up 1600' of elevation

So, if SP is 10 miles long, and they slow all the way down to 10mph, if she started off from when she felt the train....she's got about an hour +/- to run, on foot, thru all that snow

So I guess she literally fell/rolled down the mountain, if we're to think she made it back to the tracks

I've got waaaaaaay too much free time

Fun fact: Bess/Tess (whatever her name is) - IRL - Sting's daughter

so how did she feel the train when it was coming back and how did she run to it? wouldnt it seem they could have dropped her off closer to it or was that the whole think about needing speed to go over the mountain?

That's the whole point in the thread...they made it seem like the station was pretty damn far away (dangerous journey, she needs a snowmobile, had to jump perilously from the train, etc. But then showed her as close enough to feel the train. Now, a train like SP...I imagine you could feel it from pretty far away being that it is much larger than any train before it, and also 1000+ cars long. But still, I wouldn't think you could feel it from miles away, which is how far they made it seem.

The only thing I see with Stu's research is that maybe this:
quote:

22:19 Alex: "....then at the highest peak, you have to get out and take the sled all the way back to the station"

..could mean that it's a relatively easy/quick way to get back to the tracks? Like the uphill journey is hard/long, but all you have to do to get back is "ride" gravity downhill and back to the train? I don't know, that's about the only way it seems feasible to me.

im guessing it has something to do with them having to fo full speed and have alice do some pushing to get SP over the mountain and only at one point the train was slow enough for her to jump out.

This week's comments

-For fricks sake, I hate Audrey. Just die already. I wish he'd have taken that screwdriver and shoved it into her eye

-I still dont think she's changed sides, she's still playing Wilford

-Confirmed preacherman is the mole, no big surprise there, I only wonder just how big his inner circle actually is.

-The baboushka was a new twist, I wonder how much she'll play into this season

-I now only dislike Ruth a bit less than previously

-I was certain Roche's wife was long dead. Was not expecting that

-That's a bunch of red candles, for a second there, I thought they could quell the unrest by exposing the preacher as the instigator. But now, I dont know, thats a ton of Dubs sympathizers.

-I still want to understand how they are communicating. I was sure the preacher's wooden box was some sort of radio

This was just one step barely above those shitty filler episodes. At least it confirmed some stuff we pretty much knew, and closed out some minor storylines.

I hope this show doesnt limp to the finish line, but it's sorta leaning that way

Better than last week. They didn’t waste any time with throwing in the “we’re turning around to get Melanie” line, confirming the high viscosity cereal varnish theory.

Looks like we’ll get to see what they were prepping Icy Bob for and it looks like there will be a convenient engine malfunction only Wilford can repair.

As for the red candles, there’s no way out for Layton now except to bring Wilford out of the shadows and hope that he shows his true face.

Like you said, I hope they have thought this out, but it looks like we’re going to be limping to the standard cliffhanger ending. Given there’s really only 3 or 4 of us discussing this, it sure doesn’t look good for any long term life of the show.

ETA: looks like season 3 has already been green lit. So we’re definitely getting a cliff hanger.

I assume the usual speed needed to get over hills and mountains has changed a bit now that they have two engines to push/pull the train.

I’m watching the episode now. But I came to ask is the blonde chick on the train the same actress that played the frown daughter on Fringe? She has the same wonky eyes and it made me think of her.
