Yoakam’s single-take drunken tirade is All-time good stuff. “C’mon Morris you fukin genius! Get the Fuk out of here!’ He knocks out like 5 friendships in one fell swoop. Hilarious and sad.

Owned this on laserdisc when I was 15. It’s whereabouts are today unknown.

Doyle is a sort of a few younger generations' Archie Bunker. Too bad we can't get more of him.

Wouldn't a series about Doyle be a hit. Wonder if he's ever been asked to reprise the role and would he considered it? Billy Bob could be in or out of it. He could direct. Lucas Black could be Frank as a deadbeat, still living at home or the new sheriff, who Doyle doesn't get to play cards with, but he visits Frank's house every week during the guys that do get invited's game. Natalie Canerday, the mom, could probably use the work and the check.

No J.T. Walsh or John Ritter, but others can be found for those roles. Ritter's role might not go well in 2023 anyway. but Morris and Terrance are both still living. Tthe band can still be part of it.

I'd watch.

Dwight is underrated, talent-wise.
He really is a good actor. If we're lauding guys who were born in New York. in the 40's, for playing mafia members, Dwight deserves lots of credit for playing a redneck a-hole.

I don't see this guy when he's playing Doyle.

I found it at 2nd and Charles a couple of years ago. Don't recall what it cost, but I'm a cheap bastard, so no way I would spend more than $8 or so on a used movie.

Ole baw firing the beer bottle through the window is the most accurate southern drunk scene ever made.

The next line in the diner scene with the gay mortician and Vaughn …

No, I heard you're more than friends. I heard Dick Rivers come in there and caught the two of you all bowled up and going at it in the same room with poor Miss Ogletree, her dead as a doornail laid out on a gurney.

Just here to reiterate that Doyle Hargraves may be the best character to hit the screen in the last 50 years.

Dude fits the profile of a 70's-90's Southern drunk to a T

Someone did this in a show or movie I watched somewhat recently. And I can't remember who/what it was.
