“Skulls” - new Predator film wraps

Apparently it’s going to be the first contact between humans and follow an indigenous tribe, with a female hero.
If a female Comanche Indian can take out a Predator doesn’t that kind of devalue the franchise? It takes away from Arnold’s mystique and bad assery (although Predator 2 fricked that up as well, along with Shane Black’s movie and the AvP films…). Alright, maybe they should just give up.
At least the girl is attractive, but I thought that role went to the “hostage” in the original film who got TOLD to get to da choppa. Now she’ll be the one saying get to da horses. Thanks hollywood

Amber Midthunder was solid in Legion, and I can find a little enjoyment in most Predator flicks. It won't touch the original, but I'll watch it.

Didn't she tower over everyone in Legion? She isn't exactly small.
Edit: that must have been a camera trick since she is listed at 5'5.

Old arse Danny Glover took one out in the sequel so I think we are past that point

No. /thread
Jokes aside, Predator is intrinsically tied to Alien thanks to the amazing comics

Realistically we have two really good ones. One that’s PG13 and ok, but it’s really cheesy because of the PG-13.
and 3 very terrible ones.

Arnold beat the predator with pretty basic, primitive stuff.
Also, in Predator 2 Danny Glover is given a ball/power pistol, so I imagine that will predate this prequel's timeline.
I've argued for years (since Predator 2, basically when I was a boy) that Predator sequels should have been set in the past, not the future.

Predator 2 is solid. Far from terrible.
Predators is also solid, with a very weak ending.
The Predator, AvPR, and AvP are terrible.

AvP (cheesy but I still enjoyed)
Predator 2
The Predator
AvP:Requim
Predator
Predators
AvP (cheesy but I still enjoyed)
Predator 2
The Predator
AvP:Requim

Are you saying Arnold should be the only one in human history capable of taking out a Predator?

Yeah, that one was terrible.
I have no issue with a female lead if they make it believable. But cramming a female there for woke's sake is stupid and won't work. So if they can make her a believable badass, like Ripley, then I could buy into it. AVP stretched the "woman badass" trope, but it worked well enough that I enjoyed the movie a lot more than most.
And I'll go on record as having these as "good" (or better) A/P movies:
Alien (great)
Aliens (good)
Alien 3 (great)
Alien: Resurrection (good)
Prometheus (really good)
Predator (great)
Predator 2 (really good)
Predators (good)
Not good:
The Predator (as mentioned)
Alien: Convenant
AVP: Requiem (darkest movie ever made)

the only one they show as physically hanging with a predator in hand to hand is danny glover. i guess you could argue Adrian Brody in predators but that guy had been hurt by the other predator, blown up, and sniped.
and that is why i rank Predator 2 so low.
so anyways, i'm arguing about the physiques of actors fighting with fictional extra-terrestrial beings so that's enough internet for me today.

+1 to this exactly. AvPs are just awful. Really awful. I remember hyping myself up bigtime for the first one and seeing it in the theatre. What a huge letdown. My friend still gives me shite for hyping it up so much.

Anything not Predator, Predator 2, or Predators is in canon discontinuity for me.
I don’t think this changes matters.

We're now living in an enlightened society. Of course, a diverse 5'5, 125 woman of color can take down a monster that easily took out a special forces unit with ease. She can probably do it quicker and more efficiently than the 6'3 225 muscle-bound hulk that just barely did it in the original film...because, you know, women just do stuff better.

I will give the Predator credit for the absolute laugh out loud moment of Sterling K Brown accidentally blowing his own head off.
I don’t know why, but I lost my shite on that scene more than anything since Channing Tatum figured out that Jonah Hill was banging Ice Cube’s daughter.

Thats assuming she does kill the predator in this film. Now that is a reasonable assumption but let see where this goes.

What does it matter if she is female if she can trick the damn thing and kill it?
The movie description implies that the Predator will not just fight her but her entire tribe and just like Arnold, she will probably be the last one left that kills it so she aint fighting it by herself the whole movie.
If they do it right it could be good..seeing Comanche warriors fighting an alien hunter.

Sometimes I wonder if y'all even watch the movies. The whole point of the ending of OG Predator was Arnold having to out-think the predator in primitive conditions. The hunters are far more advanced than us and physical might is not enough to win.
