Did not finish it. Once it got to the scene with the different eras of music it was too weird and i turned it off. Plus some of the dialogue was someone cringe inducing

You stopped watching at the worst possible time.

I literally told my daughter the same thing. Heavily influenced by FDTD. We like the movie overall, but doesn’t seem like an Oscar movie to me.

Yep. It’s enjoyable and a really good watch, but it’s basically just FDTD meets Black Snake Moan.

If this is directed by Robert Eggers and stars Bill Skaarsgard (sp?) you still get a really good/great movie but I bet you don’t get 16 Oscar noms.

Nosferatu's tech nominations showed the academy members are paying attention to Eggers.

And, yeah, if it was a totally different movie made by different filmmakers with different actors, it probably wouldn't have the same number of Oscar nominations.

I enjoyed it. Loved the Irish folk music and that they leaned heavily into suspense. I felt like the "oh here comes whitey to kill us all" bit was a bit overdone, but I thought it was one of the better vampire flicks.

Right. Because that’s exactly what “this” means- something completely different than what it was referring to in the subject matter of the thread.

Glad to see you’re paying attention, partly anyway.

It's OK but nowhere near 16 Oscars good or its hype, generally.

Pretty much sums it up for me.

So, which movies deserved nominations more and in which categories?
