That was a good episode
Liked how blackthorne said the two guys names who had the balls to standup
Ole baws son should have switched out for the wet sneaker grip, those rocks are tricky when wet
Interested to see next week

A few questions for the people. I haven't started the latest episode but I'm a little confused.
1. Have they explained why the translator girl's Father killed the other woman's father? Also who was her Father?
2. So the ruler of Japan couldn't produce an heir so they made another woman conceive him one correct? And she hates the one guy because she thinks he did the plotting to kill her Father?

I think the old whore has it right. Forces from Edo are gonna come into play. The "surrender" to Osaka is the pretext for Crimson Sky.

I think he told anjin to storm out - go to his ship - and blow the fckers up.

Sucks we have to wait a week...

These folks knew they had a good show on their hands so didn’t drop all episodes at once
Pretentious bastards
I’m sadz to have to wait again

Best show I've watched on television in awhile. I love the weekly drops. I like the episodes to marinate

Did Toranaga leave two tracts of land in Edo to the teahouse lady? If so, it means she was right.
The language barrier with Blackthorne is killing me, but I know it has some purpose with Mariko. Just kinda wished they did that movie thing where some time passes or a montage and he magically can understand and speak basic Japanese (more than he has).
Who has a 12 year old as a second?

He is based on Mitsuhide Akechi who allegedly killed Oda Nobunaga (the first unifier of Japan) for being violently cruel (and choosing others for promotions over him)

my first thought watching that scene with my gf was that there was no fricking way he made a clean cut

Well, this is a massive departure from the book and history, so this show could go anywhere now.

yeah, I am glad they are going a little off the rails. I hope it ends a little differently than the book, honestly.

If so then Toranaga really needs to work on his allies. His council consists of two guys who worked for Ishido, the son (nephew?) of one of the guys who was working for Ishido, his dumbass kid, one loyal old guy, and the Anjin.
Let’s be honest, most of the leaders and regents we’ve seen to this point are pretty duplicitous. So it’s not really shocking to see that trickle down the ranks.
And the trend continues...

except no more dumbass kid

I don't like what they've done with Blackthorne. He had a lot more friends by this time in the story and wasn't reviled by everyone.
And the whiners have still called 'white savior' on it.

crown this show NOW
It’s rare that I’d agree with a statement like this mid season but there is absolutely no show that makes me put my phone down and pay complete attention like this (subtitles excluded.)
Nothing on television like this since GoT. Closest thing is Mare of Easttown, Stranger Things, and True Detective S1.
Appointment television.

Okay, glad someone else confirmed this. I’ve tried avoiding mentioning the book to avoid spoilers but it’s been a while since I’ve read it so when they’re are departures I’m not always sure if it’s a departure or I’m just not remembering it correctly. Some in this episode felt way more “off” than what I could recall so glad it’s confirmed.
And yes, I believe that tract of land in Edo was for the tea house lady. In the show and book it’s because he recognizes her guile, intelligence, and attention to detail. In the book, I think she also convinces them by having a single district/guild the Willow World will be more organized and controlled which for Toranga means more easily taxed. I doubt that part will be mentioned in the show
