I’ve been impressed with Ben Stiller’s directing, but it seems he may be taking the credit for someone else’s work.

How long did Petey work at Lumon while being reintegrated?
At most 2 weeks, because he tells Mark in S1 he’s been reintegrated for 2 weeks and he had already stopped going to work at that point.

Did he have both memories while still going to work? Will Mark?
I don’t think we know for sure, but logically it seems like reintegration would work both ways. We at least know that he was making his map of the severed floor while he was inside. Hard to say how long he had been working on it though; it’s possible innie Petey was already working on the map before he reintegrated.
Making reintegration only work on the outside would create some pretty interesting / potentially awkward scenarios. Like.. imagine being Mark and remembering your innie’s actions every day, but being completely unable to control them. And then.. is his outtie conscious the whole time, like someone else is driving their body? Or is it like a dream that he remembers when he wakes up? That definitely strikes me as the kind of weird shite the show would try to explore. But I still think it’s more likely that he has full control.

Worst thing about this show is the seasons are so short. Makes you miss the days of where you had weeks/months to take it all in.
Best thing about this show is no filler episodes. Every show movies the plot along. They easily could squeeze a few more episodes showing life of the outies .

Great episode. I also thought Dylan’s “wife” was not actually his wife. It seemed she was influencing him to take his job seriously, much like milkshake did with enticing him to behave so that he gets his conjugal visits with the wife.
Obviously there is more to it after the reveal that she is his outtie’s wife. But something still seems off.
The level of detail in this show is amazing. Every actor knocks it out of the park too. This is the next Lost type show, and I’m here for the ride.

I'm glad I got onto the show early... I didn't get into LOST until Season 5 and the threads/theories on here feel very much like that.
Has anyone stated how many seasons they are anticipating?

quote:Dan Erickson has said they have a number in mind, but can’t say. They technically haven’t been renewed for S3 yet, but they all know it’s just a matter of time and working out the deals. He and Ben also said that they’re fine adding additional seasons as Dan has written so much stuff that they could fill seasons with more development outside of the necessary story arc. I really like that there is so much material and they also want to adjust to what works and things they think will work, but don’t resonate as much. And the ending was planned from the start, so they won’t get into that gray area of how should we end this.

I just hope they don't drag it out further than it should. I'm very interested in how they are gonna shift the story and extend with Mark already being reintegrated E3.

Pretty sure we’re already there. This show better pick up quick or I’m done.

quote:I don’t think that will be an issue. It’s probably more if Apple says can you include an extra season since the ratings are so good? And then Ben and Dan add some stuff that would have been cut if they only had the minimum seasons. It won’t get into Pablo and Nikki Lost episode territory.
I just hope they don't drag it out further than it should.
And to that point, the reason Lost had some filler episodes is because ABC wanted the show to never end, they were making so much money. Lindelof basically had to tell them that the show has to end. Execs don’t give a shite about quality of content.
I don’t see Ben and Dan just throwing in filler episodes, they would be part of the story. Those guys are too detail oriented.

Hope not... Have faith that they know what they are doing with the story, but hard to believe they can get more than this season and maybe one more out now that Mark has been reintegrated.
Unless it completely goes sideways ala LOST and we get time travel and the likes.

quote:I definitely see the show extending beyond the severed floor. I think the show is really about Kier and the cult and what it represents and the severed procedure is our introduction to that universe. But that’s just a guess.

Possibly, but you’d think the main character would have to shift away from Mark and maybe to Helly or someone else for it to continue.
Who knows, I’m along for the ride though

The car thing is very strange. I thought maybe this was late 80’s or early 90’s based on that scene where Mark pulls up to work but multiple characters have cell phones. Definitely felt intentional to show the old cars.

Remember Petey in season one? “What if you’re killing people down there?”
That's what was insinuated in the Lexington Letter companion book

It’s supposed to be ambiguous. I love the retro futurism vibe.

Am I the only one who can hardly find friends that are watching Severance? I swear I only know like two watching this and it's phenomenal
We're pretty early to the game but I feel the same way. It'll catch on soon. It's good programming.

So that thing they did in the chair is permanent? I thought it was just a thing that worked while doing it. So now he'll be able to remember both?
