I liked it.
I was home visiting my parents last year and saw it was on and flipped to it. They had never seen it. I don't think I've ever seen them enjoy a movie more, so it probably does have more appeal to an older audience.
But to the OP, if you don't enjoy watching Duvall play that character, which he has done in like a dozen movies, then you and I will never see eye to eye on most things.
