i would love a Mace Windu film - the book that covered him about the time of the prequels portrayed him as a badass, and having a unique Force Talent that left him virtually untouchable by Sith Lightning.
how they portrayed him in the movies was as criminal as killing Maul.

mace windu is as about as interesting as white paint
killing him wasn't criminal. creating him was.
darth maul is only cool because he had zero lucas dialogue to read, and died before we got sick of him. killing him is the one good thing they did in the prequels

Jabba, Hans, Lando, Chewbacca. Need a movie just focusing on the origins of those relationships.

why are people so hell bent on origin stories?
that worked so well the last time...
anyway, sometimes just some basic exposition and/or visual cues are enough. I don't need to know about han solo, his parents, learning to become a pilot
these aren't superhero movies.

i will disagree with you there Fox - there are some really decent novels around Han from the time he was in the academy to the time he was kicked out all the way through becoming a smuggler and meeting Lando, and all the Jabba troubles. hell it even explains how he got the Correlian Bloodstripes on his trousers.
i think there is a ton of written works concernign han that would meake for a good film.

I thought Boba was a clone that Jengo took with him from that city, with the people , who created the clones?
Also a story on how chewy and han met. story on both of them growing up. there is a huge story on hans life.

quote:i guess it depends on the intent. you want to add to the character. just from a logical perspective you're moving backwards with the character. Temple of doom is a prequel that adds to indy's character rather than backtracking...it isn't concerned with origins and explaining this little thing and that. It's even kind of cool how they do the fedora in crusade
hell it even explains how he got the Correlian Bloodstripes on his trousers.
the point isn't to let you know why he has a scar, why he has a whip, why he wears the fedora. it's really to show you the characters tenacity (decades later he still wants the cross) and to show his father was a very stern and seemingly uninterested parent who wrote a guide to getting the grail. the cross is also a religious artifact so it links well with the holy grail that is the quest of discovery that indy goes on
I guess it just depends on how you do it. but if the main motivation is to tell the origins and backstory (largely things we already know or don't really need to know otherwise we would know)...it sucks. that's why the prequels suck.
anyway, the whole point is with boba fett that he is a mysterious enigma. we know some very basic information about him. shite, we don't even know if he's human (from the perspective of watching empire. also the prequels don't exist in my imagination)
with han solo we know everything we want to know, and a little is left to our imagination. he's a cocky a-hole, ace pilot, drug smuggler, morally ambiguous, handsome and charming rogue. I'm not dying to find out his origin story. an origin movie would serve as just a 2 hour flick explaining his character for a different movie. that's moving backward not forward

i already know the origins of those relationships. Han saved Chewies life and according to Wookie culture, Chewie swore an oath to protect Han forthe rest of his life.
Lando was also a smuggler that Han and Chew know. He is/was a gambler and lost the Falcon to Han on a card game.
Jabba is the head of a criminal smuggling operation based on Tatooine. Han was smuggling for him but had to ditch the cargo because he was stopped by the Imperial Coast Guard or something. Like most crime bosses, Jabba doesn't care and tells Han "frick you, pay me". When Han does not pay in a timely matter, Jabba puts a price on his head.

I always joked they need to make a movie for Wat Tambor. He's that giant tooth looking guy who has a computer voice.

I think a bounty hunter film in the Star Wars universe could definitely work. I just wish they would create a new character rather than focus on Boba Fett.
I really want to see more of the war between the Empire and the Rebellion without Jedi overtones. I know Rogue One will be somewhat in that vein, but there's so many good stories they could tell that I hope it's not just limited to that movie.

the best way to include boba fett is to do exactly what you just said
somewhere along the way, the protagonist comes across a new and dangerous adversary who's looking for the same thing, would be the best way to reveal boba fett...but with the internet, you'd never be able to spring that surprise on the movie going audience.

His name is Xizor, Underlord of a galaxywide criminal organization called Black Sun. He seeks to displace Darth Vader as Emperor Palpatine's right hand. To do so, he will hatch a brilliantly evil plan to discredit Vader in the Emperor's eyes. But in the meantime he will join the Dark Lord in an unholy alliance whose common target is the young Rebel hero, Luke Skywalker.
While Vader and Xizor bait their trap for Luke, Han Solo is being held captive, flash-frozen in a carbonite slab. Mourning the loss of the man she loves, Princess Leia mounts a rescue mission to free Han. She enlists the aid of Luke, who is sharpening his skill in the Force at Ben Kenobi's home on the edge of Tatooine's Western Dune Sea. Skywalker organizes a crack fighting force, including Wedge Antilles and his famous X-wing squadron; Lando Calrissian; and the mercenary Dash Rendar. Yet the fierce battle that ensues to rescue Han will not go according to plan. For the Empire's spies are everywhere.
What's worse, though he is cold and reptilian, Xizor has a certain predatory charisma that not even Leia can totally resist. Against the judgment of Chewbacca, who has promised Han to keep her from harm, Leia walks willingly into Xizor's lair in a dangerous play of passion and willpower to get the information she needs to defeat him. At the same time, Luke stands in the crosshairs of a conspiracy of assassins and bounty hunters recruited by Xizor's lieutenant, the beautiful but lethal Human replicant Guri. As the struggle between Xizor and Vader intensifies, Luke finds himself the potential prize of the two most evil entities in the galaxy — one who wants him alive, and one who wants him dead.
In a final, explosive showdown, the Rebels must infiltrate Xizor's impregnable stronghold and fight the combined forces of Black Sun and the Empire in deep space. With death and betrayal looming on every side, Luke, Leia, Lando, and Chewie must use every weapon and resource at their disposal, including the Rebel fleet and some intriguing new allies, if they are to prove victorious. In Shadows of the Empire, Steve Perry adds an exciting new chapter to the Star Wars saga and introduces important new characters and situations no Star Wars fan will want to miss.

I read that book and liked it, but I was also 12
if anything, it was a better study in multi platform marketing, and a pretty damn good n64 game that has aged horribly.

I both loved and hated that game

n64 games aside from first party titles and wayne gretsky's hockey didn't age well
and neither did the controls.
when you're first, you're the least perfect. as a star wars fanboy, at the advent of 3d gaming, to go through the hoth base and kill storm troopers and listen to john Williams' score and run from wookies...it doesn't get better than that
