I'm hoping Lawrence and the show runners are keenly aware of the fact that Cox is every bit as much lifeblood of the show as Turk & JD.
If they were to kill him off, it would be at the very end, but even then I hope they don't.

Agreed. Although I do think they are charging full speed at him dying.
But the show needs him. Desperately.
Watched the first episode last night and enjoyed it. Jordan's face is a complete shitshow though. And I didn't like how overly mean she was to the staff...they aren't the same people they used to be and are all (seemingly) very good at their jobs. So her threatening to move him to a different hospital (which he wouldn't have allowed anyway) was weird and stupid. I know they tried to explain it away as her being an emotional spouse. But it went way further than that to the point of absurdity IMO.
But that was my only gripe. The show is still good. And I liked how it seemed like the interns took more of a backseat as well. They work much better in small doses. The heart of the show is and always has been JD, Turk, Carla, Elliot, and Cox. Keep it that way please.

Sibby is still the weakest link among the new cast. If they absolutely must keep her, then it should be at a minimum so she doesn't waste screen time for other, more interesting characters.
Even fire hazard gay Nurse Dubois has gotten an attitude adjustment. Separating him from that unfunny heifer nurse did a world of good. Having him turn on his "straight" charm when needed is an amusing twist.

Agreed.
I didn’t really like TikToc Doc’s newfound self doubt. She was probably my favorite intern last year and they totally changed her into Sibby 2.0. Not sure why
Also what happened to the other guy intern? The bartender guy?
He also played a bartender on Rooster, so clearly not an issue with Lawrence not wanting him in the cast

It's nowhere near close either. She is abysmal onscreen, 100% of the time.

Yeah, I am glad they seemed to have toned him way down. And also gotten rid o the Gaysian doc too, although he could've been a solid character had they not gone full retard liberal sex angle with him. I mean seriously, multiple jokes about him fricking dudes and chicks (and I think in the same couple one time?)? Just so overly stupid, even for a show like Scrubs with weird characters in it.

Yeah, I hope they got that shite out of their system. Dr. Park could've been a great foil against JD's Chief of Medicine role if they could've kept their wits about them.
ETA - apparently the focus on the interns will rotate:

Rotating Interns: Showrunner Aseem Batra confirmed that rather than featuring the entire intern group in every episode, characters like Asher (Jacob Dudman), Dashana (Amanda Morrow), Blake (David Gridley), and Amara (Layla Mohammadi) will now rotate in and out across the season.

Yeah I think they took our criticisms from last season and fixed them. Kicked one of the loud nurses out. No more bi doctor angry at JD. With only 10 episodes it's hard for the viewers to have so many character storylines. I like how they only focusing on Tosh and not the others. They are much better behind the scenes characters for now. Just focus on the main cast especially with some special guest starts already coming later this season. I love the new SNL doctor. He seems like someone who would have fit into the original series perfectly.
This is probably the best revival ever put out at this point.

Is Kelso supposed to appear this season or too old?
He’s a missing piece

Also, still not a fan of JD and Elliot being divorced, I get they likely did it to give dating storylines but idk kinda feels like it ruins the original finale
And did the med school season never happen in this world ? Doesn’t appear to be a strictly teaching hospital anymore

I like this idea much better especially in a 10 episode season.

Sadly, no. His age and the logistics of getting him up to Vancouver where they film makes it practically impossible.

Johnny Kastl Poised To Return To ‘Scrubs’ – And Acting – As EP Aseem Batra Previews Scott Foley’s Visit & Confirms Ken Jenkins’ Absence In Season 2
LINK
quote:
What would make Kastl’s return particularly notable is the fact that he quit acting in 2009 as he wrapped his eight-episode arc on Scrubs to go to law school and has worked as an attorney and business executive since, most recently VP of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships for Acorn Finance.
quote:
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence had shared with Deadline in February to have Jenkins reprise his character as Dr. Kelso in the ABC revival’s second season.
That didn’t pan out, and Jenkins will not be in Season 2, Batra confirmed to Deadline.
“We all have to remember that when we reboot a show, we have to go with where people are in their lives and in their health and the things that are happening in their life,” she said. “So it’s not anything he can control or we can control, it’s just simply the situation. He’s doing great, but let’s all remember that, because we try to bring people back that we love, and it can’t always work with schedules or things happening in people’s lives.”
that is disappointing but I'm not mad. The guy is 85 years old we have to respect that. From a Zach Interview it seemed like it was gonna happen but he wasn't feeling good the month of the shoot and it not filming in LA anymore and Vancouver is such a hard ask for him to fly over. He did say if hes feeling better next season they will ask him again and hopefully he says yes. To be able to see Kelso one last time would mean everything

It's like it's off in this weird nebulous world, because JD and Elliot's kid that was born in Season 9 has been referenced in the reboot, but also one of JD's first lines in Season 9 was that the original hospital got demolished to build the med school. But in the reboot, they are back in the original Sacred Heart.

According to Zach Braff and creator Bill Lawrence, season 9 of Scrubs is excluded from the canon and is treated instead as a separate spin-off Scrubs: Med School. This is originally what Bill Lawerence wanted but was pressured by the studio not to do this.

This never bothered me because the series finale was a flash-forward montage of his imagined future. So after that shot he could have lived all of that but during those 16 years in between life happens and him and Elliott fell apart. I still think it's one of the greatest series finales of all time. I always thought Turk and Carla were the real couple we looked at as the perfect couple not JD and Elliott. With that said I do like them together but also like this storyline.

Why doesn't Carla get 25% billing with JD, Turk, & Elliot?

Had only watched the first episode when I posted that.
Saw he was in ep2 now. Him turning down JD as a mentor was great
I do like that the interns will be rotating sort of background players too.
Especially with nonsense like Turk’s intern beating him in a stitching competition, GTFO
