Season Finale 4-15
MY CELEBRATION
A chaotic day at Sacred Heart forces the doctors and interns to face burnout, life-changing decisions and their relationships with one another.
Someone started a thread Rachel Bilson thread the other day. How ironic that she will be in the season finale of scrubs. All your old favorites are back. The Janitor, Jordan, Cox, and Carla. 9 episodes went by so fast.

5 minutes until the season finale
Posted on 4/15/26 at 7:05 pm to TheRuins
Janitor is back
Jordan is back
the first 5 minutes felt like old scrubs. Wonder why the janitor is back
Janitor is the commish of the joint commission
Damn. They really might kill of Dr cox.
The rachel bilson storyline is great so far with carla and turk. Janitor son is the nepo janitor
What they did in 9 episodes is truly amazing. It needs to be studied for all future revivals.

I wish they gave them 10 episodes so they didn't have to rush the 2 new love interests. 9 episodes is such an odd number for a season
Posted on 4/15/26 at 9:55 pm to TheRuins
I feel like they didn't really do anything this episode
But overall, don't really care, this was great and it better come back soon. 9 episodes wasn't enough.

The finale introduces Rachel Bilson as Charlie. Given Zach's history working with her in The Last Kiss, there's an easy chemistry there. Is the plan to have Rachel back in a heavily recurring capacity for Season 2??
Absolutely. We want to have a romantic arc for J.D. I mean, it's time. He's kind of had his angst about getting back out there. And we love Rachel and thought, you know, their chemistry is really great. And so we're excited to flesh that out for Season 2.
John C. McGinley mentioned that the "Scrubs" and "Rooster" schedules shouldn't be in such loggerheads next season. With that in mind, how much Dr. Cox are you planning for in Season 2??
So much of our storytelling was based on how much we could get Johnny, how much we could get Judy — and if [schedules] open up, of course, we would want our family back together. We want that energy. We miss that Dr. Cox energy. So we would love to put him back in the fold if schedules permit, and have a million ideas for that.
Do you see him remaining strictly a patient, or do you foresee finding ways for him practice medicine again in some capacity?
It makes sense that we would have a bit of a patient arc, but that he would, in some capacity, want to come back [to medicine], even if it's to distract himself from what's going on with his health. So yeah, we want to see him do that again as well
The finale reveals that Maintenance Guy is actually the Janitor's son — and he also claims to be the "Chief Custodian of the Joint Commission," which... feels questionable at best. Should we take any of that at face value, or is this your way of keeping the Janitor orbiting Sacred Heart however you can??
Totally. We want The Janitor. We don't know what's real. But we also had a fun conversation with Neil at the beginning of all of this — like, "What do you want?" And he said, "It'd be fun to have him back in a different capacity." This was a fun way for him to have power over J.D., or at least a perception of power.
We didn't get a chance to explain what the Joint Commission is, but it's the body that inspects every hospital for accreditation, so if he were really on the commission, he'd have quite a bit of power over J.D. So we thought we thought that was a fun spin [on their dynamic], and something to play with in Season 2 — like, will he be coming back with a team of people? What's going to happen?
And is the plan to bring back the entire newbie class — Tosh, Asher, Blake, Amara, and Dashana? Or, given that it's a teaching hospital, might we see some turnover and new faces in Season 2??
I mean, we love our cast, but I think we do need to move things along. And in "Scrubs," as you've seen in previous seasons, things change. So it's all in talks [right now] of, like, "How do we want to lay out Season 2?" I think we are discovering it as we have these discussions. So nothing is set in stone, but we do love our cast. Just putting it out there — not to scare anyone, everyone's great! But they will be residents either at the beginning of the season or we'll do that at midseason, where they will go from interns to residents. So that brings an opportunity for new newbies.
This has never really been a show about the kids, but as you look ahead to Season 2, do you anticipate introducing J.D. and Elliot's or Turk and Carla's children? And might Cox and Jordan's grown children come into play as Cox's health story continues??
Yeah. Look, hopefully with more episodes, there's room to show that. I think fans would be a little curious about the home life. That doesn't mean we're going to do full stories. We had a story broken for Turk and his daughter [in Season 1], but things shift as you're doing these episodes. I would still love to tell that story. We probably won't spend tons of time [with the kids], but seeing the context of [those relationships] helps us because the lives [of these characters] have changed over many years. So I don't mind dipping in and seeing the kids. I think we'll have more time to do that.

Bill Lawrence: "None of us would be here if we weren't planning to still do the show...I don't know many, many [seasons]. That's going to be on that guy...Hey, Zach, how many seasons of the show do you want to do?"
Zach Braff: "I think five."
Bill Lawrence: "So probably five."
Zach Braff: "Thanks, Bill."
Bill Lawrence: "Cool. We okay saying that we're done with that, then? Five?"
Zach Braff: "I think five's a great number. Everyone should be happy with five. Whatever Bill wants."
Bill Lawrence: "There you go."
Scrubs till 2031. My body is ready.

It was a solid season. Seemed like the same ol' Scrubs of old, which is good.
One observation, but man, there has been a frickton of plastic surgery done on everyone over the years
It's almost distracting.

The only one I really noticed was Jordan. Man she was so pretty in the early days of scrubs before the plastic surgery.

I just looked it up, and I guess I'm wrong. People are saying I'm seeing the style of lighting and makeup they are using, and that makes the people look fake.
Jordan's work not withstanding. She looks not great these days.

It doesnt help that tvs make you see eeeeeeverything. With the high resolution.
I mean Elliot looks good but when they show her up close its a bit frightening

I thought they did a hell of a job. The interns got better as the season went on. They reset JD to early seasons JD level rather than end of seasons complete caricature.
Kind of funny the revelation of the janitor being Janitors kid. Sets up for good storylines from here.
They did a good job of maturing Cox and JDs relationship.
They did a good job of poking fun at how soft the new generation is.
Two things
I hated the Asian antagonist. Janitor Cox Kelso etc they were all still funny and multi dimensional. As the last episode alluded to he was just an unfunny heel whose one “joke” was his sexuality.
Second I wish Kelso had made an appearance. Could have had him mentoring JD in the episode that he was having to make decisions about how the money was spent on what equipment.
Also hate that its. Such a short season but bill Lawrence is stretched across so many things right now that are all fantastic that I will deal with it if they all keep the same quality

I didn’t realize that was the season finale, not a lot of closure in that episode but I guess it leaves everyone in a good spot going into the next season.
I wonder if they had a different finale filmed in case it got bad reviews and ended after one season? Like a 10th episode that wraps everything up.
I’ll be honest I kind of expected the season to end with Dr. Cox dead….
One thing about the shortened season is that recurring jokes don’t hit the same way they did in the original. You can’t drop a stupid one liner into an episode and then bring it up 15 episodes later like they did in the OG, I guess that’s why they mostly recycled old inside jokes. Good season though as far as reboots go.

Just completely awful.

It's not almost distracting for me...it's overly distracting. It takes me out of the episodes sometimes, that's how bad and noticeable it is.
Turk's mouth.
Jordan's face.
Even Elliott sometimes.
That being said, I'm still digging the reboot and thought they did a great job with everything else. But holy shite, Jordan's face didn't even move when she spoke or tried to show emotion...that's not good for an actor to not be able to convey emotion with their fricking faces.
As a normal episode, this one was solid. As a season finale, it was trash. Basically nothing happened with any sort of closure for a season. But that being said, we have a potential new JD love interest, new relationships among the interns, Cox's health still on the table, and a Jani Itor connection that should allow for him to be back around regularly (i can even see him retiring wealthy and then coming back to SH just for the love of the game and to torment JD). So while there was not really any closure of storylines, tings are set up decently well for a new season.
I think they did about as best as they could have with this reboot. So props to BL and everyone involved. I'll watch it until it stops airing.

I grew up watching Scrubs and it was always my favorite medical show. It is still is even though the The Pitt is a close second. They nailed it with the PR lady and Dr Cox. I am Dr Cox type doctor and I was always getting in trouble during residency for my mouth. Also Janitor's return this past week was awesome. Although I was a little shocked to find out that Janitor did not actually like the Todd even though he was part of the brain club.

Hearing the right voice but the face doesn't match is incredibly distracting.
It's like Christa Miller's gone in the opposite direction from the Wizard of Oz episode in the original run where she gets trapped in a steamy room and her lip injections puff up.

She's only 61. Michelle Pfeiffer is turning 68 next week and looks 100x better.
