They all do kind of capture different generations to some degree

First three Screams were Gen X

4 was definitely the millennials Scream

5 and 6 were certainly heavy Gen Z with Jenna and her crew but still some millennial with Sam, Riche, and Kirby

meh, it was just a simple trailer breakdown. points out some stuff you might've missed and gave his opinions on the different parts. he thinks the killer in the start of the trailer isn't the real killer(s). he thinks it was the girl's boyfriend playing a prank.

I may need to watch to see how he comes to that conclusion

Yeah, it was confirmed months ago that he was in the movie, the manner at which he is in the movie is what is unknown.

I think you should definitely watch 5 and 6.

Welp, I watched both 5 and 6 yesterday, and they were absolute trash. Just overly ridiculous from top to bottom, and not in a fun way.

But at least I’m caught up and ready for 7 when it comes out.

Sorry to hear that

They are definitely a different vibe, I think trash is a bit harsh, but its all subjective, but anyway like you said, you are all caught up for 7 now

They were just so overly ridiculous that it took me out of the movies.

I liked upping the body count but GF was murdering tons of people just out in the open with absolutely no repercussion. Packed subway cars. Multiple people on a convenience store. Etc.

The sisters are obnoxious and cocky assholes. And hilariously OP.

Small girls overpowering grown men gets tiresome (I can at least buy it with Sidney). I mean, in 6 the killers are Jack Quaid (which is fine) and then some tiny girl who’s like 4’10”. I’m supposed to believe she can kill or overpower anybody she meets? GTFO of here.

People shrugging off major stab wounds. I mean, the obnoxious black twin chick was essentially murdered (on a packed subway car, which nobody noticed btw) and then a little bit later shes hopping around with a bandage on her stomach like it’s no big deal. Same thing with black twin dude Chad in BOTH movies.

The acting was horrible too. The new cast was pretty much universally terrible. None of them can act worth a shite. Adults included.

They leaned WAY too hard into the meta thing. And 6 even moreso than 5, and it tries way too hard to force the meta stuff. Like the black twin chick was super annoying with all her “this is a movie” schtick. It was sort of funny and a cool concept with Randy in the OG movies, but now it was nothing but annoying.

Courteney Cox’s face was freaking me the frick out too. Especially in 6. It was so bad it was distracting. And I found an article where she acknowledges she went way too hard on fillers and shite and admitted her face looked weird as hell.

And GF is borderline magic with how he’s literally always in the right place at the right time.

But all in all, I’m glad I’m caught up, but they just weren’t very good. But at least I caught up and am ready for 7.

This has been one of the biggest complaints of those 2 movies. Although I like Chad so im glad he survived. The two sisters are gone so you dont have to worry about them anymore. The twins will be in 7 though.

7 is being directed by the writer of the original Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4...so it should feel more like the early movies I would think.

Yeah, I like Jenna Ortega. Probably mostly from Wednesday. I was kind of excited to see her in this role but, the movies just aren’t good.

Side bar- which long running horror franchise has been the most consistent? Scream has to be up there.

Stu and Kincaid should be the killers. There’s no way Kincaid isn’t one of the killers in Scream 3.

I usually like your breakdowns but some these complaints are ridiculous especially when you consider what franchise this is

quote:

GF was murdering tons of people just out in the open with absolutely no repercussion

Not the first time at hell, 2 started off with him killing Randy in the middle of the day on a campus

Hell the very first kill they strung up Casey's corpse in a neighborhood with nobody seeing this? Come on man you're grasping at straws

We going to act like we haven't had women GF killing men before?

So like Dewy in the first three?

This reads like someone just angry at the new cast for existing, they're pretty solid. Sure they're not the OGs but continuing to bring back the OGs can get tiresome. 5 was a nice passing of the torch

You can find plot holes or loose plot points in anything if you pick at it enough, which is the case with the poster you’re referring too, a bit, but this:

quote:

Hell the very first kill they strung up Casey's corpse in a neighborhood with nobody seeing this?

Is not a good retort. They even state in the dialogue that they are “in the middle nowhere” so the cops won’t get there in time, and it takes the parents like a minute to make it to the house after she spots their headlights.

As far as complaints of the killer being in the right place all the time, that’s a troupe with all horror movie, and many other movies, the plot requires all sorts of contrivances to work.

If you’re comparing those to the absolutely public kills in 5 and 6 then we can just agree to disagree. Those are nowhere comparable. I mean Casey was in the yard of a very rural yard late at night on an obviously unbusy street.
quote:

We going to act like we haven't had women GF killing men before?

I didn’t like it 4 either. It’s one reason I liked 4 right up until the killer reveal at the end. The frail girl and small dude (Culkin?) couldn’t have pulled off some of those kills and attacks.
quote:

So like Dewy in the first three?

Sure, yeah. But even these were way far beyond ridiculous compared to Dewey.

Again, we can agree to disagree. Stop acting like I’m just complaining about something just to complain. I’m not mad at the cast for existing. I’m mad because they absolutely fricking sucked at their jobs and were part of the reason those two movies sucked so much. I’m glad you liked them. That’s cool, good for you. But I thought they were very bad and not enjoyable very much at all.

I don’t expect the fifth and sixth entries in any franchise to be awesome. But these were just plain bad. And laughably bad at times. I’m hoping 7 is a return to quality.

Looks really good, but i am a unabashed Scream lover

Scream is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite scary movie. Behind Psycho and OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I avoided watching Scream two all the way until last year because I just didn't want to watch a bad sequel to a favorite of mine. Can't bring myself to watch the 3rd because I heard it's worse than 2, which was pretty bad.
