This poster proves the rumor was true, there will be a old mask in play from a previous killer.

When failing horror franchises resort to gimmicks, it's a terrible sign.

I just want Stu to still be alive as the persistent rumors say.

But Scream isn't a failing horror franchise, no matter how much you want it to be. You not liking it does not equal failing.

Scream 5 was probably the best reviewed one since the original and made $140M on a $24M budget and audience score was the highest of the entire franchise.

And I dont see going to NYC as a gimmick, I see it as a moving the franchise in a new direction. You would rather them just keep staying in Woodsboro? It is time to move on from that.

good point. even the Jason movies were still making money when they made Friday the 13th part VIII, so you could make an argument that even though the quality of the movies was really getting bad, the franchise wasnt failing.

It was dead and they revived it with a reboot that relied on nostalgia-fueled support for the box office.

They have already started resorting to gimmicks. That's a terrible sign

The entire point of the franchise is to keep it in that area. They repeat the same shite and then try to give meta commentary.

If they went meta meta and tried to make it a straight up horror movie, then THAT would be a good "moving on" attempt, imho. They didn't need NYC for that, though

Jason takes Manhattan had big time potential, but the studio wouldn’t pony up the money necessary for it to be done correctly. Writer/Director Rob Hedden had scenes written for MSG, the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, etc. But he couldn’t get the money to film there so that’s why 80% of the film takes place on a cruise ship.

Scream 5 made $140 million at the BO on a $20 budget, had a 76% critic score on RT, and an 82% audience score. The franchise is hardly suffering

Nah man, they are going to New York, the franchise is doomed because of a movie from the 80's

This is a wait for streaming and its late at night and I can't find anything better on Prime...so maybe I'll see this in one year.

I mean everything runs its course, this ship sailed awhile ago...you can't go home again...and all the other sayings.

The Teaser looks cheeseball...but worst, when you aren't scared or don't care about ghostface and everything is with a yawn...the franchise is over.

This franchise has gone the Final Destination route...decent enough but nothing to write home about or bother to recommend. If its free, you'll watch it.

finally got to watch 5. Hughie is a bad guy?

pretty predictable overall. as soon as he survived the attack with just a little cut on his arm.

sucks they killed off dewey. guy was just trying to chill out in his trailer and they drag him back in.

being sheriff in that town is a bad career choice.

Just wait until Scream goes the Jason X or Leprechaun 4 route and we get Scream in Space!

Doesn't work for me. It isn't unusual for there to be brutal murders in NYC.

Will they capture the killer just for the local DA to let him out with no bail?
