Yep, all the survivors from 5 are back, except for Neve Campbell, this is the first one without her in it.
Samara Weaving was added to the cast for this one as well.

first scream was great, second was decent, and the rest have all sucked. was this done intentionally as like a meta, self-reference on how this happens with all horror movie franchises? i say yes.

She is, there was a tease to it in 5 when Richie was watching YouTube, one of the other videos was about Kirby being a survivor. As far as relation, Gayle is still in this one and she interacted with Kirby in 5 so that is probably it.
