What about the stigmata? I remember watching the exorcism of Emily Rose and the stigmata the same day with someone and we both agreed we needed get to a church to pray asap

House of 1000 Corpses was crap. I hated the way it was edited like an avant-garde rock video. It just doesn't do it for me. The robbery scene was the only scene I really enjoyed.

The Strangers did a few things well that made the movie pretty tense. But the idiotic boyfriend dragged the movie down.
*spoilers* I'm sorry if I blast my best friend on accident I'm gonna think "omfg that sucks, how could I do that?" But then I'm gonna come back to reality and realize that people are still trying to kill me AND I HAVE A SHOTGUN! Dear god man. Walk out there and freaking pump them with some buckshot. *End rant*
But I'm not a big fan of that genre so I can't speak on it too much. One reason is bc I just don't think there are many good scary movies out there. I mean 2-3 decent ones in the past ten years? That's terrible. Give me a good suspenseful movie any day. And I'd have much more to choose from.

Pretty sure I read the true events part was based on the Manson family.
Anyway, the strangers and Emily rose were pretty creepy.

quote:Agreed. Paranormal Activity was no cinematic gem but the concept was fricking chilling.
I find movies about demons more scary than anything else.
FWIW-Exorcist is hands down still the scariest of all time.

Spoiler answer:
They don't. The movie was stupid and poorly done.

How do they know it is based on real events? I thought Liv Tyler and the guy die in the end... couldn't they have been killed by the strangers?

exactly. it the realization that, while not likely, it could possibly happen to you :goosebumps:

Just to clear this up, the director claims that this film is inspired by a woman who came and asked for someone who wasn't there multiple times throughout the night.
Others claim that the movie was inspired by The Keddie Murders (look them up if you want, it's a much more horrific story than The Strangers), although that was never confirmed by anyone who did The Strangers, so it's still just a rumor.

This. That movie really creeped me out.
Also, Paranormal Activity.

To me, this was the worst "inspired by true events" that I always believed until I got older:
