Saw Halloween tonight (Spoilers)

Spoilers will be at the bottom.
Thought it was good, not great. Music was in point, the movie avoided some of the typical slasher flick spots, but when it did the tropes, it went all in.
Acting was fine and Jamie Lee Curtis was a natural in her role. More humor than you'd expect, not as much as IT from last year, but a healthy amount of it. For me another source of enjoyment was figuring out all of the local locations they filmed out.
Spoilers below...
frick that doctor. Michael should not have been that can powerful at that age. You are 10 feet from him, shoot him in the face or neck and while he's down, empty the clip on his arse. And if you cooking his arse, make sure he's extra crispy before you bail.
His body count was ridiculous in this movie.

Same. More laughs than I was expecting. Thought it was really well done.

Question from a non horror fan, is it really a "slasher/horror" film, or is it more of a suspenseful Thriller-type like the trailer kind of looks like.

I just saw it and I enjoyed it. I won't say it exceeded expectations but it certainly met them.
I won't lie though, at one point I was thinking is this a damn drama or a horror movie lol but it picked up.
I give it a solid 7/10. This was light years better than Resurrection and both of Zombie's shite arse movies. I really like H20 and here we are 20 years later and I think this might have exceeded that one as well.

It was great imo. It's weird because it's essentially a re do of part 2 that wipes out
the original 2-8, but i thought it was fantastic and a great way to get the original cast back for 1 more go. 8.5/10.

I enjoyed it. Myers' age factored into my internal commentary, too, but I suppose he's in line with The Beast from Split when it comes to physical strength/endurance.
I loved the nods to the original, and the tiny twists to the homage (Laurie hunting MM in the closet; LS going over the balcony and disappearing, etc).
The little black kid being babysat was awesome.
Was rooting for MM when it came to the concern troll podcasters.

Without giving too much detail, how do they catch Michael and lock him up? At the end of 1, he’s shot off the balcony by Loomis and disappears.

Apparently they found him right after and arrested him.
The ending of this one is going to be a big discussion piece with that last shot of the basement and the shot of the granddaughter holding the knife.

Where in Charleston did they film?

Does it pretend like that one never happened?
I mean, didn't they decapitate him in h20?

I wish they had gone into a bit more detail with this. I thought the doctor character was annoying and he was one of the weak elements. I like how they kept Dr. Loomis' interpretation that Michael was basically a force of pure evil, which explained how he was able to do what he did despite being 61 years old.
They definitely got the Halloween "feel" down pat with the music and overall look of the film, not to mention all of the subtle nods to the original.

The way they explained that was Michael ripped out the voicebox of a paramedic, then stuck his mask and clothes on the guy. Because he had no voice, he couldn't tell Lori that he was not Michael.
But yes, this sequel ignores everything after the original Halloween movie.

Primarily park circle and the hanahan area. The gas station scene (it's in the trailer with the lady cowering in the stall) was filmed at the BP Station at Yeamans Hall Road and Remount.
I believe they filmed Lori's home scenes out in West Ashley but don't quote me on that.

Saw it last night as well. I thought the guy who played Michael did a great job.

Same guy from the original

The retro-music was my favorite part. I thought the movie was OK but didn't live up to the hype. Thought the little kid stole the show he was hilarious.
Left the theater thinking "girl power"...

I thought he only had a couple of scenes.

Pre Mask was the OG Michael, once the mask went on it was the new guy.
So this movie had a production budget of only $10 million and grossed nearly $8 million in Thursday previews and is projected to earn in the $60-70 million range for opening weekend. Let's assume it had an advertising budget of $25 million. The studio usually gets 60-70% of a movie's first two weeks of gross. So let's say it does $80 million in its entire first week (low end projection). That gives the studio $56 million against $35 million in cost. This movie will print a mint for the studio.
So long story short, we're getting a trilogy and I hope they show his arse crispy like Deadpool too.

I’m pumped it’s doing so well.
SPOILER:
I can’t wait to see how he escaped the burning house.
