Fan and actor reception to the sequel trilogy was mixed. By and large, Rogue One and Solo have been embraced by diehards, as have the live-action and animated TV series (if everyone forgets Resistance exists). Yet there's been nothing but constant bickering among the fanbase and internal turmoil at Lucasfilm.

Overseeing all of this is Kathleen Kennedy.

As Lucasfilm president, the buck stops with her; ultimately, she's responsible when a project is a mess - or a success. In recent weeks, calls for Kennedy to be removed from her position have reached an all-time high. However, Disney appears to be doubling down on the producer, as recent word suggests that her contract has been renewed for a significant amount of time.

Matthew Belloni of Puck and former editor of The Hollywood Reporter shared that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy's contract has been extended for another three years. The contract previously expired in October 2021.

Additionally, Belloni's insiders noted that Rogue Squadron is indefinitely delayed due to " creative differences " between Lucasfilm and director Patty Jenkins.

As I said earlier this year, “Kennedy To Be Replaced By Favreau” was QAnon for nerds.

It's like Disney just keeps that loathsome woman around to piss off the loyal fanbase and tell them that they're wrong and should eat shite.

I thought it was common knowledge she was staying but that she’s only a name now and that most of the creative content has been given over to better minds like Filoni

Speak for yourself. I canceled mine after Carano was fired and haven't looked back.

So everything good that also came out during her "reign" is being attributed to her as well. So even though they were made in spite of her rather than because of her, she gets credit.

Yeah, sounds like a CEO alright.

We seem to be moving into a second stage of Star Wars at Disney. Kennedy was the guiding force during the first stage... and had "limited" success. Now it seems more like a Filoni/Favreau and their disciples doing their thing with some interference and the rest of Lucasfilm which is a back alley brawl pretending to be a production company.

Patty Jenkins has mixed results as a director but she's a name and evidently she really wanted to do that movie. Creative differencing her is not a good sign.

I think the problem is... who do you replace Kathleen Kennedy with? Favreau and Filoni love doing their own thing and watching their proteges bloom too much to run Lucasfilm. Feige might want to play in the sandbox but he has his hands full with Marvel. George Lucas is three days older than dirt.

Who do you hire to replace Kennedy? I grant you, my elderly diabetic cat is a better choice but you need someone approaching a name in Hollywood. Who would it be?

Look, if they're willing to pay someone millions of dollars with no idea how to run a company, I'm available.

Outside of Marvel, Disney hasn't made very good CEO decisions. Chapek needs to be gone too.

It's like they're actively searching for the "line" they need to cross for people to stop consuming their products.

Apparently the parks are in decline because Chapek is going with "good enough" attractions instead of industry leader that Disney was just a decade or so ago.

Eventually something will give.

These talentless fricks are going to hit the wall hard when they run out of established franchises to run into the ground.

I imagine that they're waiting for the rebound from Covid to determine Chapek's ultimate fate. I know the resort I work at had some absurd numbers the moment restrictions were lightened up.
