One little interesting tidbit is that the building at the center of Rosemary's Baby is The Dakota, i.e., John Lennon’s home where he was shot.

and Lennon wrote “dear prudence” about Mia farrows sister prudence farrow, when all three were in India with the Maharishi

Another is that Anton Levay claims that he played the devil in this(probably uncredited).
There are also a lot of rumors about what exactly the police confiscated from Polanski's house after the murders.

Porno films that Polanski shot of Tate having sex with other men, leather aprons, and other S&M gear. Some rumors mention items that would be used in Satanism/Witchcraft.
Two of Jay Sebrings coworkers have claimed that he told them about a drug deal with Manson not long before the murders where Sebring and Frykowski met Manson at the gate and beat him up and took the drugs without paying for them.
It's hard to say what's true, but the rumors don't surprise me. It's well known that Sebring was into some pretty kinky shite and most of the rumors of what the police confiscated from the house come from former LA cops.

This part wouldn’t surprise me considering that Manson knew the previous tenant of the house, Terry Melcher.
But anytime I hear salacious things regarding Satanism, I always take it with a grain of salt. Satanists are basically the original edge lords, and to imagine they did anything behind closed doors where they couldn’t get a shock out of the squares is bit of a stretch for me.

People don't realize how prevalent cults were in California at that time, Satanic and otherwise.
Celebrities like Mick Jagger, Sammy Davis Jr, and Jayne Mansfield were rubbing elbows with known Satanists like Kenneth Anger and Anton Levay. Bobby Bousoleil was Anger's roommate and was going to play Lucipher in Anger's Lucipher Rising film(Jimmy Page worked on the soundtrack).
Manson used Scientology as part of his schtick. L Ron based a lot of Scientology on his time around known Occultist Jack Parsons.
The first house that the Manson family stayed at after leaving San Francisco was known as the Spiral Staircase house. When trying to find pictures of the house, I found an article that mentioned that it had belonged to a Satanic cult that was busted up by police because of pedophilia.

In the book Going Clear, L Ron Jr says that the only parts of scientology that aren't bullshite are the stuff based in the occult. Also claims that Hubbard Sr was telekinetic. Mind you, Jr despises his dad.

The whole Parsons/Hubbard/Crowley thing is so interesting.
Hubbard was clearly a con man but Parsons, without a doubt, believed in what he was doing.
That whole Babalon Working thing sounds absolutely bonkers. But when you see how much the world has changed since he was doing all of that, it's hard not to wonder if any of them worked.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when Hoover got the intel that their boy wonder at JPL was into all of this crazy shite.

The Sebring Manson drug deal gone wrong is interesting. I guess the theory would have to include Bugliosi being a part of some sort of conspiratorial coverup? Proving Manson sent them to kill Sebring and his friends as revenge for beating him up and taking his money/drugs would have been much easier than convincing the jury of the Helter Skelter theory.

Jet Propulsion Laboratory(some people think that it really stands for Jack Parsons Laboratory) in Pasadena. He came up with the solid based rocket fuel that made the entire space program possible(they're still using this type of fuel today, I think).
When they talk about a fine line between genius and mad men, Jack Parsons would be the poster child.
I'll start a thread on Manson. I apologize for turning this Rosemary's Baby thread into a discussion about everything but the actual film.

Never seen it. Where do you find the movie now? My 72YO sister saw it when she was young and it scared the hell out of them back then. I guess The Exorcist did the same for my generation.

I probably saw that movie 10 times before I realized Charles Grodin was the doctor

I've been alive long enough to have had the opportunity to see if when it first came out, and goodness knows it's been on TV many, many times since then.
That said, I've never seen it from start to finish, or more than maybe 15 minutes at a time. It's one of those movies that don't interest me.
You mentioned "The Exorcist" and I saw that one in the theater when it first came out. Damn good movie, but an even better book that I read after I saw the movie.
