You say that with both Major League and The Replacements as possibilities?

Rocky is barely even a "sports movie."

I’m going to get blasted because it’s horribly cheesy and historically inaccurate, but...

And I fricking love Rocky. It’d probably be my #2.
Sandlot, Tin Cup, and Hoosiers are all up there.
Loved me some Blue Chips too, but Shaq is my dude so I’m biased.

The whole Rocky series is such a great thing. Not only sports, but about life.

Not only is Rocky a bad movie that is terribly cast and acted, with the exception of Carl Weathers, Stallone stole the movie. I developed a new hatred from him after I watched the ESPN documentary on the story behind the movie: Chuck Wepner Story

I read Bernard Malamud's novel The Natural long after I had seen the Robert Redford movie several times. I was surprised at how much darker it was, especially the end. It's a great movie, but I liked the novel better.

Nothing wrong with that. Thats a fun movie with some heart. I think it mainly gets blasted bc of how inaccurate it is.

I don't disagree. Idk if Hoop Dreams counts, but that would also be pretty high up there for me

All except Rocky 5, that one is just pure garbage.

The boxing scenes in Rocky are ridiculous. Most of those punches would have but the other guy into a coma.
Cinderella Man is better than any Rocky movie.

Now, the best one on a Louisiana sports board is a Louisiana based sports movie.

Cinderella Man is a fricking horseshite smear campaign against Max Baer, who was a wonderful human being.

I never could understand why Ron Howard took such gross liberties with his characterization of Baer.
