You are so right. There was an article or documentary that detailed Shakespearean English and it was far more modern American sounding.
The English accent of today was not present 500 years ago.

So they are striving for authenticity with the accents? LOL
Both Robin and the Sheriff seem to have traditional British accents.
This looks like a potential steaming pile of crap...diversity casting, bad accents, lots of CGI, and a total disregard for the source material (now Little John is the leader of the Merry Men and Maid Marian is married to Robin’s brother).

And why are they in Dubrovnik, Croatia and not Sherwood Forest in England?
And what's with the Ninja assassins?

Still like the 1938 Errol Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Basil Rathbone Claude Rains, etc. one best.

Who exactly was itching for another Robin Hood?
But I guess they just as well go full edgy diversity retard and not worry about feeling authentic. The Russell Crowe movie was about as authentic as you’re going to get, and I don’t think it did well.

Dang. How about that.
I guess Costner was perfect then. The rest of them were miscast.

Looks fricking terrible.
America should stop trying to make movies based on British events. It is always far fetched nonsense.

Robin and Marian was good. Can't really beat Connery and A. Hepburn together.

Why is Little John black?

Why do he and Maid Marian speak with American accents when the movie is set in the British Middle Ages?

source material
I think there’s room for a historically accurate telling of the old plays and poems...with some artistic license to fill the gaps. You could tie it back to Magna Carta and the historical significance if you wanted.
I must have missed the part where he always had an Uber powerful moorish companion. I wonder if Fryer Tuck was gay and Will Scarlett was a
Transgender?

A Muslim among the Merry Men
Since the 1980s, it has become commonplace to include a Saracen (Muslim) among the Merry Men, a trend that began with the character Nasir in the 1984 ITV Robin of Sherwood television series. Later versions of the story have followed suit: the 1991 movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and 2006 BBC TV series Robin Hood each contain equivalents of Nasir, in the figures of Azeem and Djaq, respectively.[68] The 1990s BBC sitcom Maid Marian and her Merry Men parodied the Moorish character with Barrington, a Rastafarian rapper played by Danny John-Jules. The latest movie version, 2010's Robin Hood, did not include a Saracen character. The character Azeem in the 1991 movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was originally called Nasir, until a crew member who had worked on Robin of Sherwood pointed out that the Nasir character was not part of the original legend and was created for the show Robin of Sherwood. The name was immediately changed to Azeem to avoid any potential copyright issues.

They've basically combined the recently added Moor character w/Little John for this version.
Odds are this was more just a way to cut down on costs and the need to introduce 2 different characters than anything.

Odds are it’s to make sure a main character is not a white guy

"King Arthur" and "The Great Wall" was the boring movie. Hope that Robin Hood will cross those movies.
