Wasn't someone saying that they had a storyline in the comics like this?
If Doom is to become the big bad capable of fighting a bunch of Avengers? The storyline that they haven't used is the Secret Wars.
That would make sense if the Beyonder brings back Stark, Scarlett Witch, even Ultron, Loki, or Thanos. The original Secret Wars did that type of thing where some dead characters were brought back by the Beyonder to fight on the Battle Planet.
That's a complicated story and probably does the best with the more familiar characters so the audience can keep up.

Gotta give Disney credit where credit is due. Interest in the MCU was dying so they made the decision to throw a bunch of money at the likes of Hugh Jackman and Robert Downey Jr. to bring them back to the IP to save their golden calf from ultimate ruin.

Will completely depend on if they also eject the DEI stuff from all of the MCU projects.

I’ve never read the comics but just hard to believe they’d go for three avengers movies in 3 years, unless they really spread out secret wars part 1 and 2

I'm pretty skeptical at this point but I was even more skeptical when I heard they were making the first Guardians movie. I thought that was a sure-fire disaster but I was very wrong.

I feel like that cheapens iron man’s ending even more
It’s like a wrestler getting squashed to end a run of popularity. Thanos getting smacked like a bug would feel pretty weird after how much the built him into an all time villain.

They should have just cast Denzel if they wanted an elite actor. The story telling will have to be next level to pull this off and I'm not convinced Hollywood has it in them.
