After the real weigh ins for the Jon Jones fight, Conor McGregor came out and pumped up the fans and they changed signage, then Gyllhenhall came out and fake slapped his movie opponent.

Clip here: LINK

Note that the signage said UFC 222, which was 5 yrs ago, so I assume this is a flashback type scene to set the stage that "Elwood Dalton" is a former championship contender in UFC and is now probably down on his luck working security at bars.

The movie was announced in August:

quote:

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal is helping bring back a cult classic.

Gyllenhaal is set to star in a remake of “Road House” for Amazon Prime.
According to a synopsis, the movie will be “a reimagined take” on the 1989 film that starred Patrick Swayze. “The Bourne Identity” director Doug Liman will direct.

The new film follows a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who “takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise,” according to a press release

Who is cast as the cool, all-knowing, and strong black dude?

It is so cringy how involved Dana White gets in these weigh in confrontations.

I guess he just couldn’t help himself.

The real question is…are they going to keep the prison line?

That the problem. He can’t even fake being a tough guy without it looking bad.

Wish they’d make a musical version. I’m almost done writing my showstopper number, “My Way or the Highway.”

Her "I can beat up the guys" persona took a hit when started getting knocked out and crying about how she would've killed herself if not for her man.

I have a hard time believing modern Hollywood will be able to replace Swayze, Lynch, Elliot or Gazzara’s performances from the original. I like Gyllhenhall but he’s miscast in this role and the supporting cast looks worse.

Going to treat this like several other remakes, and act like they don’t exist, because they shouldn’t.
