Anyone watch the latest Walking Dead??? I haven’t watched the original series since shortly after he died; not sure what season I stopped, maybe the creepy bald headed woman. I haven’t watched any of the spin-offs, but I did record this latest installment.

I watched it and it showed just how much Rick carried the show and his “death” killed the franchise.

I was hooked throughout the entire episode and with this being only a 3 episode series, I’m happy to get Rick and Michonne back for a proper goodbye.

It's six episodes and the voice-over was a nice touch to help speed things along compared to the old show.

I would have watched all the old ones if they'd been six episode seasons.

Love Rick. Was pumped for this. Very disappointed. Really disliked the whole “look” of it, so cheaply done. Was bored after 15 minutes. Won’t give up on it yet. Hopefully it picks up.

I’ve been looking forward to the return of Rick Grimes. Always have wondered where he disappeared off too. TWD was one of the better things that’s ever been put onto tv during the earlier years.

Walking Dead was good for maybe 2-3 seasons. I turned it off after that and never looked back.

My problem was it should have had some some higher goal for the characters rather than just surviving day to day.

Maybe something like finding out why this happened, or a way to be immune, or finding some paradise that Zombies can't reach.

The episode to episode fight for survival just got boring when there was no bigger goal that the series would pay you off with.

Take Breaking Bad as an example. You knew at some point it was all going to come to the shite hitting the fan. The Walking Dead just never had that. It was always, just tune in next week to see who dies.

That’s the overall TWD mentality post S4 (or earlier).
There must be seven seasons of “hopefully it picks up.”

At first this was pretty epic. No one was safe. All bets off.

But that only takes you so far. At some point there has to be an endgame. I never read the comics but have been told they never find a cure or anything about the virus. The story morphs into the world post Z.

That doesn’t work on a tv show.

The reason why his hand was cut off was so contrived but I get it. It’s a six episode and done miniseries so you can do it for the comic fan service. Had they stuck to the source material in the regular show that would have cost them a fortune in digital effects to edit out his hand every week

Why do people feel the need to post in any WD thread about when they stopped watching it? If you stopped watching it, why follow the posts?

How would finding a zombie free paradise be any less boring?

Then you wouldn't know if it was good, in your opinion. I thought it was really good, up to a much later point. Introducing Negan revived it after a lackluster season. If you didn't see peak Negan, then you missed out.

None of this would make sense in the context of the show. At this point in the whole timeline, they won't care about how it happened, and a cure wasn't immediately needed as you only turned if you died. As for the paradise, they constantly searched for safe places to live. The problem was the living always had an agenda. That was the story. The zombie were just fodder after a while.

I do get what you are saying here and I agree. There was no ultimate goal, so thus, no payoff when reached/not reached.

IMO, it was good for the most part and did suffer from stalls in the middle of some seasons. While season two took its fair share of criticism, the payoff was there with the barn scene. The later seasons suffered from new characters that I found hard to care about.

you're dumb if you believe that.

negan and maggie's show got renewed for a season 2.

darryl's show got renewed for a season 2.

it's inevitable that this show will get renewed.

If Lincoln wants to do another. He left the original show for a reason. Maybe he doesn't want to get tied up again. Or maybe he is staring a nice paycheck and will do multiple seasons. If this is the case, then just have all of them meet back up and do some crossovers. Then, just do another Walking Dead with all of them back. I can see it coming.

I don’t give a shite about the TWD universe to keep up with what’s coming back or not but I highly doubt the shows two leads who left the original show long before it ended are coming back to continue to do the same old shite they left.

Actors like JDM and Reedus and Cohan don’t have shite else to do

So was the Commonwealth interacting with CRM?

CRM shows up all over the nation, so they had to interact.

But when Ezekiel and the others take over and the time jump a bit, there’s no indication of that.

I wasn't aware it was just six episodes. I wasn't really interested in watching a spinoff that was 16 episodes (I just looked up the episode count and wasn't even aware the last two seasons were 22 and 24 episodes), but six episodes should make for compelling television. I'll probably give it a go.

Well six episodes, but…

Then Daryl Dixon: the book of Carole

Then I’m sure they’ll mash it all together with all of the shows for the final final season and get the whole band back together.

Then a very special three part episode from the view of the zombies.

He left because he was gone from home for so long. This is when they were doing 16 episode seasons.

With only 6, he may be open to doing more seasons.
