Thank you OP. I was in more Play fights in slow motion with the "na-na-na-na-na" sound effects ...

I was a big fan of Oscar Goldman. He always seemed so cool and in control.

And the briefcase was so cool. Twist the handle one way and it opens to a “normal” looking spy briefcase, but twist it the other way, (when capture seems imminent!) and a spring pops off one side and it opens a different way panel showing all exploded looking. You can kinda see it in the picture.
Very ahead of its time.

For you nostalgia bros, Lee and Lindsey appeared together as recently as last month at a convention:

In my second grade class picture, I raised my eyebrow to look cool like Steve Austin. Nailed it.

That show was must-see TV for kids my age. This was the ultimate playset to me:

I was so young I could squeeze through the flaps of the inflatable tent.

Good times.

I was in 7th grade when that first ABC Wednesday Movie of the Week pilot aired. Man we loved us some bionic man.

I don't remember seeing this so I looked it up. Apparently there was a a pilot and 2 other TV movies throughout 1973 before the series first episode in January of 1974. After some searching I found the pilot and 2 of the tv movies online and watched 2 of them. Very different from the series. Different Rudy Wells actors- Martin Balsam for the pilot, and another for the Six Million Dollar Man- Wine, Women, and War movie. Steve Austin was a little bit more angry and adjusting to his bionics, and the WW &W movie was much more trying to be a spy movie ( a la James Bond) in style. It even had Britt Eklund who was Goodnight from the Man With the Golden Gun and David Mccallum who was Ilya Kuryakin in the Man From Uncle TV show. The intro music was a theme song by Dusty Springfield and was a seventies disco trip. I also watched the first episode of the series where it became more like I remember (without the sound effect yet as another poster stated).

The Bionic Woman series is in HD and found on Amazon Prime. I watched the first two episodes. The website I found to watch the Six Million Dollar Man is missing some episodes after the 3rd season so I won't be able to watch after that. It's not as hard to watch these as I thought it would be. The premise and the execution holds up even if production is a bit dated. But still way ahead of its time.

Such a great show- I was still in elementary school then. Premise was extremely cool, would still be today.
And you didn't have to have tons of effects, no need for CGI if they made it now. You could easily get away with practical effects.

I'm surprised they haven't seriously tried to remake it, but it would lose a lot of the charm and personality if it were limited to 8 episode seasons. I mentioned it in another thread, part of the magic of old shows were the number of weekly episodes. It allowed for a lot more character development and nuance, that gets tough to shove into just a couple hrs.
