Rewatched “Catch Me If You Can” for the first time in forever

And I forgot just how awesome Christopher Walken was in this movie. He got robbed of best supporting actor. The guy killed every scene he was in.
Very good movie. Except for the fact that this ultra-smart savant would be careless enough to tell the Hanratty certain information on his phone calls to give him clues to where he was. That was mind numbingly dumb.

He was trying to give himself up

That would make since if he didn’t run at his wedding. I think his ego kept him from thinking he would get caught though

Where are you going Frank?

Him being a kid who's in need of attention from the chase, more than he wants the money or to keep going forever, is a point made very clear throughout the movie.
The "There's no one chasing you" interaction makes this theme explicit.
I agree that that makes the chase of the movie feel "off", but it's also what makes this a very Spielbergy Spielberg movie. Frank is just another lost boy.

One of my favorite movies.
Love the part of the story where it just shows how young this kid was when he did it. Hanratty had become more his father figure and he was calling him cause he had nobody else. Which is why they had the Christmas scenes. Beautifully shot movie as well.

They had to tone down the cons of the real guy, because they sounded too unbelievable. He once walked right out of federal prison after convincing the warden he was undercover. He won teacher of the year at hospital despite no medical knowledge.

For whatever reason the real FBI agent who was chasing Abagnale did not want his name used in the film, so they gave him the name Carl Hanratty. The real agent's name was Joseph Shea. After watching a talk Abagnale did a few years back, he and Shea were indeed close friends till the day Shea died.

The guy definitely had brass balls in order to pull off the things he did, especially starting out as a teen and conning people and businesses like it was nothing to it.

This needs to be on your "Watch Whenever On" list with Shawshank, Tombstone, and Road House.

Watched this recently with the GF. We're on a movie education run.
Amazing how girls these days can literally quote every episode of sex and the city but haven't seen classics like this.
That being said, maybe I'm just dense but what is the meaning of the "where are you going Frank? Somewhere exotic?

It's what his dad asked him when he saw him.
