Yea man, I know. Asking what Frank Sr. means by that?

Always a little confused about their relationship? Just con man to con man type stuff?

While Abagnale Sr. was Frank's father, the two men never enjoyed a real father-son relationship. While there was indeed love and respect there between both of them, it wasn't a healthy relationship. It was a relationship forged by criminal behavior and con-artistry. While Carl Hanratty was actively chasing Frank and attempting to bring him to justice, the two men developed a respect for each other that went beyond professional. In effect, Carl Hanratty became the father Frank Abagnale Jr. never had.

That would make since(sense) if he didn’t run at his wedding. I think his ego kept him from thinking he would get caught though.

Wasn't his wedding. Was an engagement party.

At that point in his life, he actually wanted out of 'the chase'. In Brenda's family, he saw his own loving family that was taken from him; he had actually passed the Louisiana Bar, so he could LEGALLY practice law in the state, and his future father-in-law had set him up with a job. Most of all, he really loved Brenda, a wounded soul similar to himself. He loved her so much that even when he spilled the beans to her, he asked her to meet him in Miami. She did; but as he saw, with a bunch of plainclothes agents.

If I recall correctly, when he got engaged, he pleaded with Hanratty on the phone to let him be, that he was done with his grifting/running. But Carl wouldn't do it.

Very good movie. Except for the fact that this ultra-smart savant would be careless enough to tell the Hanratty certain information on his phone calls to give him clues to where he was. That was mind numbingly dumb.

He was a kid.

Also, this is a true story. The guy actually did this stuff.

how "old" did he look, back then, in real life? I mean, a kid is a kid but 17-19 year old pretending to be a teacher, doctor, law school graduate/lawyer. I'm fully aware & accept that it all happened. I've actually met the man, when I worked in banking. but I didn't have the chance to ask him?

It takes a brass set to pull off that kinda stuff. And an even stronger intellect.

He called the guy chasing him and gave him clues to where he was? That’s wild

He wanted the attention and thrill that came with the chase.

He was so far ahead of the FBI he helped them out.

That being said, maybe I'm just dense but what is the meaning of the "where are you going Frank? Somewhere exotic?

I've always been confused by that whole scene and why his dad basically melted down at the end of it. It's almost like he was jealous of Frank and bitter, I never understood what his reaction was supposed to mean
