The hardcore Star Wars fans are like the football fans that say in the offseason that their team is going undefeated and nothing will change their mind. They are incapable of being objective. So they flock to these voting brackets to prop up their pieces of shite. A New Hope and Empire are the only two that deserve to move past the first round or 2.

Looking at that bracket (and I love Star Wars)...

Every Star Wars movie, including RotJ and RotS, have won every round they're in. I'd contend that RotS isn't better than Endgame; I'd honestly contend it isn't better than T2 either, which it beat out in the previous round.

Jaws should be the considered the greatest summer movie. It’s a great movie that set the standard for summer films.

Poll is trash without Independence Day even making the list.

Wait, which one of those things is the awful star wars sequel you're talking about?

Anyone that thinks ROTS is better than Endgame deserves deserves to have a running chainsaw shoved up their arse.

Endgame isn't that good. Infinity War is much better. IW losing to Dark Knight Rises is a much bigger gaff.

Sorry boomers but I dont think Jaws was originally released as a summer movie. They way overrun schedule and budget and released in Jan-Feb if memory serves.

Memory didnt serve a dang thing. It was released in June 1975. All these covid documentary binges are not being retained properly.

Neither of those are close to the best summer movie

Jaws, the one that started it, might be it.

who do you think George Lucas is, exactly?

when i first read your comment i was confused who you were calling the "soulless, mass produced theme park ride carefully crafted in a corporate boardroom" side, and when i went back and saw you were calling LUCAS the "truly artistic vision" side, i legit chuckled irl

Lucas's entire brain was morphed into a corporate board room trying to sell toys, rides, and video games, at that point

yeah IW > Endgame

but Endgame did do 2 things on an unmatched level

1. it paid off as the finale of the franchise. while it borrowed characters from the source material, it was, effectively, an original Marvel story at that point. it was the final chapter in a 20+ movie saga. and, despite it's imperfection compared to the nearly perfect comic book movie that is IW, it worked. unless you have completed source material (like a Harry Potter), these big franchises usually fail terribly at ending the franchise (Matrix, GOT, Star Wars prequel trilogy, Star Wars sequel trilogy, etc). Endgame nailed the ending of the most ambitious creative media endeavor ever

2. "Avengers, Assemble!" is the highest peak of IW/EG. Thor dropping in during IW was bad the frick arse, but the point from when Cap first wields Mjölnir to "assemble!" is the most elite of elite peaks of "summer movie" rarefied air.

I think I was trying to say Jaws was not intended to be a summer movie. It’s release and success were really a surprise as it was intended to be released earlier that year in the spring. I think the correct answer is probably Titanic anyway.
