Unless it turns out that a piece of the craft is what hit the water, I don’t see how.

They just set up the explaination of how these movies coexisted.

In one, deep sea life ate the Sea Necter to create Clover.

Another, an alien invasion happened.

Remember, this movie is set at minimum decades after the past movies we have seen, so it can’t directly be the cause.

This series of movies, as good as they are, are such a mind**ck

I always thought that Clover fell to earth and that's was in the camera shot from the first one. I never really researched into it or anything. That was just my assumption and then I thought I heard on the SB commercial that this one explained the first. I could be completely wrong obviously.

I liked this one much, much better than 10 Cloverfield Lane. A small lull about 2/3 of the way through, but otherwise very intense and interesting. The surround sound was bitching. I had it cranked up.

The shot was of a satellite falling to earth. It was explained in the lead up ARG; there were the same for 10 CLoverfield Land and apparently for this one too.

LINK

The satellite is theorized to be what drew Clover to NY.

but if they deviated from that, they are doing a lot of recon ing.

I think Clover was in the ocean and was somehow awakened.

Jesus, that last shot was crazy, and I am not sure I meant that in a good way? So somehow the damn monster is taller now? John Goodman's character from 10 cloverfields relative is the guy who is talking about monsters at the first of the movie which was cool and creative.

Seriously though, how is the damn monster from the first film, the aliens from the second film...connected now? And the next film takes place in the 40s. Damn you JJ Abrams, Im all in again.

Done. I liked it. I’m just drunk enough to understand what happened while also having no idea what happened.

Wow.

Not a fan of the close. It changes a lot and literally explains nothing.

You can tell what was shot as the God Particle, and then what they added when it became a Clover movie. Its harder to tell in Cloverfield lane. The last scene is just weird man. It just makes things more confusing.

I really need to rewatch this when I'm more sober and awake. Also I knew the blonde girl looked familiar she's the blonde chick from Man From UNCLE

I think this is the best explanation without going into the comic/manga they released too.

how is the damn monster from the first film

I'm not sure that's the monster from the first film. Abrams said that one was killed but that Clover was ".a baby. He's brand-new. He's confused, disoriented and irritable. And he's been down there in the water for thousands and thousands of years".

So maybe, that's his momma or poppa or maybe one of many (he says THOSE THINGS as in plural).

This film and 10 Cloverfield Lane do give the impression that there are monsters all over the planet.

That would make sense, because what monster at the end here was gigantic.

The key word to eventually understanding is paradox. There’s not enough information yet. But I think that the title of the movie is the right track. There’s going to be a lot of speculation before the next one is released.

This was calculated.

There's a key line in the movie that explains the origin. It's when they are watching the crazy guy on the news podcast. He says something to the effect of the god particle causing dimensions to overlap in the present and the past. So the crew firing up the Sheppard in this movie is what caused the dimensions to overlap in the first 2 and even the 4th.

But I think film maybe explains that there were two different earths; one with Cloverfield monsters and the other invaded by aliens.

But this one definitely has the tie to the 1st Cloverfield. That was missing in the 2nd one. I don't know; I'm pulling this directly out of my butt.

Oh wait, I'm like J.J. Abrams on the hit show LOST.
