It's actually the third "Cloverfield" movie.

I’m confused by the whole Cloverfield Universe shite. Haven’t seen the John Goodman movie, but from I’ve heard it could have been called anything and set anywhere but they half way connected it to Cloverfield in post-production.

So how are all of the planned movies connected? What common themes make a Cloverfield make a Cloverfield movie. And is this one about to drop a real, actual sequel to the original monster movie?

It's turning into an anthology series where the only commonality is that there's a supernatural or alien element involved

If it's on Netflix tonight, I'll go into work late tomorrow to watch it.

I make poor decisions with my life.

It was known that Netflix had bought the rights recently and would release it on their platform. Showing the first preview anywhere and dropping it right after the Super Bowl is a surprise.
