Looks like she's re-launching her career with an Oscar hopeful performance.

Sorry, but Renee Zellwegger is no Judy Garland, who is debatably the most iconic beauty in cinematic history.

I heard she was cast as Arthur in the live-action version of the gay wedding episode.

A lot of words can be used to be describe Judy Garland but iconic beauty is not one of them.

She’ll do fine in the role. She basically has to act like a pilled-out lush. The studio started Judy on those amphetamines pretty early on in her career.

There are definitely more beautiful women than her, but only Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe are debatably more iconic. Renee is a pug face that has never been remotely attractive.

Really? I'd rank Grace Kelly, Vivien Leigh, Ingrid Bergman, Elizabeth Taylor, and Bette Davis over Judy Garland in terms of old Hollywood icons.

I would change that to iconic talent.

Because Judy Garland had talent like you would not believe. Liza Minnelli once said "one moment I'm singing with my mom, and then the next I'm singing with Judy Garland."

Judy Garland was one of the best talents to ever land in Hollywood. She was a mess. She was a complete mess and the people around her made her far worse then she would have been. But she was a talent.

Zellwegger can no more pull off the musical gifts of Garland then Audrey Hepburn could pull off Julie Andrews singing in "My Fair Lady".

But she can pull off acting like Judy Garland. And the role of Judy Garland is a really good one for an actress.

You’re probably right, but I just think Renee Zellwegger might be the ugliest actress in Hollywood that we’re supposed to think is hot, so maybe I went a bit overboard there.

It doesn't even seem like you watched the trailer b/c then you would know she isn't playing young Judy but rather older, pill addicted, and sadly fading away Judy.

Here she is in a 1963 Christmas special (6 years before her death) at age 41.

You can tell the addiction issues have done a number on her as she looks 20 years older than she actually is. Even worse, it's pretty blatant she is on pills during the special. She is damn near slurring in parts and has noticeable facial ticks during others. LINK This is the part of her life that Zellweger is going to be portraying.

I know it would be a huge undertaking, but why not both? This movie sounds a little like Mommie Dearest but uglier. Who wants to watch a portrayal of Judy Garland's life, after she's turned into a hag?

Judy should have taken Dr. Sidney Cohen's pill

I think you mean iconically cute teenage girl.

Because she definitely wasn’t very attractive as an adult.
