One very small BB easter egg in Water Works: When the cop mentions eating fish 1400 miles from the nearest ocean seemed to be a callback to Hank chiding Marie for eating sushi 1000 miles from the nearest ocean.

I like the fact that we got a scene at the end between Jessie and Kim - potentially the only two people who will escape this universe.

I can see the series wrapping up with Saul in the prison yard teaching some of his fellow inmates one of his cons to pull on other inmates or guards. As Chuck said, he is who he is.

I’m working and won’t get to watch last nights episode until Friday more than likely. Not reading the thread but curious as to the board’s general view of the episode. Like the last two? Big turn? Lalo come back from the dead?

Okay, I have a question about Kim’s new mundane life in Florida—and that American Greed episode. Surely the AG episode was part of the BCS canon and actually aired in that universe. Or is it outside the canon and done up just for fun?
Here’s why it’s puzzling. Kim is not in hiding and is using her real name. But it seems like her new mundane life only works if her former life is completely unknown. “I grew up in Nebraska, lived and worked in ABQ,” etc.
But American Greed featured her prominently as a brilliant attorney and Saul’s ex-wife. She obviously did not agree to be interviewed and is not connected to any criminal activity—she divorced Jimmy McGill before he really became Saul Goodman.
But Kim is somewhat a national celebrity because of that American Greed episode. I don’t see how she fits in seamlessly with all those everyday boring people, the everyday boring boyfriend to whom going to the new Outback is a big deal—if she is known as a former brilliant attorney featured prominently in an American Greed episode about her ex, the criminal attorney for the biggest meth enterprise in the United States.
To me, Kim’s new mundane life only makes sense if that American Greed episode never aired in that universe.

Yeah I agree on the Kim Florida life. She would be sick of that in 3 months. I thought it was funny how they kept over emphasizing how boring their life is. Hey a new Outback just opened, wanna go Friday night? ??
Did they ever say why she chose Florida?

Yes, Zombie Lalo came after Saul & Kim seeking revenge. However, Huell and Badger appeared at the last second to save them.
See what you miss when you work?

American Greed isn't that big. I've maybe seen an episode or two, but it's not going to define her life or employability in a completely different state where nobody has seen Better Call Saul commercials. And it's 6 years later after her divorce, right? We don't know how long she's had her life there established.
If those women know anything about her past connection to Saul, they're talking about it behind her back but it's not a big deal.
May need to rewatch that American Greed mini, but I don't think there was any publicly known reason for her to be a villain, just the ex-wife. Of course, that could change after last night's episode. But people are generally pretty sympathetic to the ex-wives club.

I'm lousy at keeping timelines straight so help me out. Current gene scenes are fall of 2010 based on the nebraska football convos he was having wiht the mall security. Kim said they haven't spoken in 6 years, which I'll assume was around the scene was saw last night when they signed their divorce. So in 2004 Albequerque what is going on? Like what would we have been watching in Breaking Bad around that time?

Much better than the previous two, but mostly because Rhea Seehorn is a pleasure to watch and elevates the show with every scene she’s in.

Nothing. Breaking Bad doesn't start until 2008 but according the timeline wiki, Walt starts working at the car wash in 2004.

personally, I didn't think anything of it when I saw the Frontier/Alaska signs at the airport. She had just arrived back in Albuquerque & it seemed like a normal scene in front of an airport.
*IF* it was some kind of hint, do we know she returned to Florida or did we just see her breakdown on the bus heading back to the airport?
Oh & Frick you, Ham.

She's surrounded by people that are uninformed and only care about mundane things that are right in front of them. They're not paying attention to the news because they're watching The Amazing Race and having conversations about going to Outback and cupcake frosting. There was zero substance to any of the conversations they were having. At least that was my take on it

2004 ABQ is still pre-Breaking Bad timeline. Saul Goodman doesn’t meet Walter White and Jesse Pinkman until 2008 in the Better Call Saul BB episode. So Jimmy practices as Saul Goodman around 4 years before Breaking Bad. And of course Kim has been settled in Florida those four years plus the two Breaking Bad years until the post-BB phone call from Jimmy/Saul/Gene.
Remember the timeline of Breaking Bad was exactly two years from 2008-2010. S1 E1 was on Walter White’s 50th birthday. The series finale took place on his 52nd birthday.

oh damn thanks. Last night I was rackign my brain trying to remember when BB took place but figured I'd just revisit it this morning.
And lol at ham. It's like the writers went out of their way to intentionally add a scnee that would unequivocally and with literally zero room for interpretation whatsoever put a nail in that theory.

I binged most of BB the last couple weeks, watching for the first time since the original finale. It's easy to forget how compact that timeline was between Walt's birthdays, since it unfolded over more than 5 years on the tv. But only 2 years in the life of Walter White.
I still feel a little blurry on the BCS timelines. Guess Jesse was already doing hoodrat stuff at least a full 4 years before Mr. White spotted him.

Gotta admit, that would have been a helluva scene when, after the party and her boyfriend has left, she’s in her nightie and brushing her teeth getting ready for bed …
then the camera is behind her showing her reflection in the bathroom mirror—and over her shoulder appears Lalo Salamanca. Lol

Oh sure. Jesse was already “Cap’n Cook” and a big part of ABQ’s street-level meth trade years before Walter White came (back) into his life. He was accompanying Emilio to see Saul Goodman when he met Kim on that rainy night. Around four years later he was telling Walt how Saul successfully defended Emilio; this when Badger got busted.
But yes, the first BB episode when Jesse escaped the bust jumping out the window showed him to already be an established hood rat pre-Heisenberg.
