We're Re-examining How We Portray Cops Onscreen. Now It's Time to Talk About Superheroes
quote:
With a few notable exceptions (more on those later), most superhero stories star straight, white men who either function as an extension of a broken U.S. justice system or as vigilantes without any checks on their powers. Usually, they have some sort of tentative relationship with the government: The Avengers work for the secretive agency S.H.I.E.L.D.; Batman takes orders from Gotham police commissioner Gordon; even the villainous members of the Suicide Squad execute government orders in exchange for commuted prison sentences. And even when superheroes function outside the justice system, they’re sometimes idolized by police because they are able to skirt the law to “get the job done.”

Spoiler: The notable exceptions are Blade, Black Panther, and the HBO Watchmen series. And Miles Morales is the hope for the future.
Would've been better if they were honest and just titled the thing, "No more white superheroes."

I swear Thanos was the good guy in these lunatics minds.

"As long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist."
"Yep. We're all kinds of stubborn."
"I'm thankful...because now...I know what I must do. I will shred this universe down to its last atom and create a new one teeming with life that knows not what it has lost but only what it has been given. A grateful universe."

Lol at Batman taking orders from Gordon. He usually already knows what Gordon is going to say, tells him what is about to go down, and then vanishes while Gordon is still talking. Gordon is there to help hold Batman back and keep him grounded.

That, and assuming that the Suicide Squad are superheroes.

Suicide Squad
The live action movie was shite but the animated movie ends with Deadshot killing Waller
Also Black Panther literally controls his own government

Nope

atman takes orders from Gotham police commissioner Gordon;
Wrong again

And that's strike 3.
This person has never read a comic or actually watched any of these movies.

Why do you think I made this handle?

the HBO Watchmen series.
So the author is cool with Angela and the rest of the cops attacking Nixonville and Angela beating a suspect nearly to death?
I thought police brutality, particularly against the most poverty stricken members of society, was frowned upon?

Blade, the 1998 Wesley Snipes superhero movie, launched the superhero movie boom we’re still in today, giving Marvel its first box office smash. The movie, written and directed by white men, references tensions between Black communities and the police. In one scene, two cops walk in on Blade fighting what is clearly a monstrous vampire and begin shooting at Blade instead. Blade turns around and asks, “Are you out of your damn mind?” It’s played as a throwaway moment, but one that rings true decades on. (

Tired of race dominating everything.

Fun fact: In every instance she uses the word "black" (all 20 times), it's capitalized regardless of use (proper noun, adjective, etc). In every instance she uses the word "white" (all 8 times), it's lower-cased regardless of use (proper noun, adjective, etc).
She's so eat up with white guilt that she can't even virtue signal without projecting extra guilt.

Uh there was an entire storyline, spanning the entire last act of the Avengers films about superheroes and "checks on powers."
Superman is a walking testament to personal responsibility and checks on powers (namely that power is a responsibility that must be wielded correctly and that takes an extremely good and measured individual).
This kind of stuff is so stupid. Disney will capitulate anyways. There might be hope with DC, but you never know.
