A bit expensive but I went to the Theaters at Canal Place and thoroughly enjoyed it. The price of the ticket and the fact they don't let anyone in under 18 helps. Leather recliners, waiters, and gourmet food is a pretty sweet way to watch a movie.

That sounds like the Robinson Film Center in Shreveport. They only show certain movies though. It is the only place in Shreveport to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Artist.

Yes, I did, but that was the expected, accepted behavior. It was even encouraged by the staff who had cleared an area out and turned some of the lights on in the front. It was akin to clapping at the end of a rousing movie.

And was it fun. Greatest time I've ever had in a movie theater. I pity those who, for prideful or other reasons, did not get to lose themselves and take part in a joyous, child-like moment of movie history

I almost got in a fight a few weekends ago because of this. Some dude and his girlfriend kept talking and I turned around and told them to keep it down...twice. It got heated on the repeat so I was prepared to scrap as soon as the credits rolled.

But he jetted before I could turn around at the end of the movie.

If it is to the standards at that theater.

It's close. The waiter (my wife) can sometimes be an issue.

That was the one area I figured may be an issue if any.

I've found that no matter what movie it is, if you wait a couple weeks to see it, you won't have many problems.

Makes sense. The idiots that go to entertain want the largest crowd. The ones that "have" to see a movie the weekend it is released probably "have" to text and let all their friends know what they are missing.

I hate paying $10+ for a ticket, only to have the movie ruined by assholes that won't shut up

I have a friend like that. I don't know if he texts in movies but he always has to see a movie opening day or weekend and can't understand how I can wait two or three years before seeing a new release.

I have a friend who sees the same movie 3-4 times in the theaters all the time. Usually in a 2 week span.

Question for those done with theaters: if you could stream a new release to your home tv, like netflix type of deal, would you be willing to pay $10-20 to watch it in the comfort of your own home?

Sort of like a PPV event the weekend a new release comes out in theaters. Instead of having to go, you could watch it at home basically the price of two adult tickets.

I ask because I am drafting a business model/plan for a class in film and media arts.

Maybe its where I live or the theaters I go to, but I've rarely had a problem at theaters

Have to say this is my experience. No real problems. I'd say that about 80% of my viewing is either at Canal Place or The Prytania these days, and that may explain it.

I think there is no way that home theater system can completely replace the theater experience.

Yea we never go opening weekend unless its an early matinee.

Exactly. WTF someone would go on a Friday or Saturday night for a hot movie that just opened I have no idea.
