This show was a waste of time.

I agree. I wanted to like it but it took so long to explain anything. It has a good premise. I just think a lot more could have been done with it. Maybe it’s just going to be an extremely slow burn through multiple seasons but if it’s more of the same in season 2 I’ll lose interest quickly.

I still like it, but the show definitely stalled once Mother lost her eyes. Hopefully they can recapture the essence of Episodes 1-5 next season.

Quit being a poor and get a TV that you can cast or airplay.

This is among Ridley's best works.

I'd be curious to see your ranking/list.

This isn't touching the Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down tier in my opinion. Heck, even The Martian.

So I got caught up and watched the last 3 episodes last night. And then took to Reddit to see the theories.

Pretty crazy the serpent is possibly behind all the events of the series and the whole reason the humans found Kepler. I thought it was going to be android/human interactions and less of the sci-fi but a huge sci-fi twist with the flying serpents.

I watched Episodes 8 & 9 in a Covid fever haze and then watched 10 this weekend.

Can someone tell me what drugs I was supposed to be taking to understand this show?

Best synopsis of the show I could find:

quote:

This is a story about two androids raising young humans on a foreign planet in order to reboot the human race; it’s a story about the consequences of conflicting religious ideals; and it’s a story about an android having sex with a ghost in a machine and giving birth to a snake baby.

Just very strange and jarring narrative and character changes make this show hard to watch at times.

Mother is a mass murderer yet the show uses her as a sentimental being - to Father and the kids (considering she killed most of their people - you’d think it would be different). Fimmel’s character has completely flipped.

I really want to like it.

She literally murdered every one of those kid's parents and they start calling her Mother.

Episodes 8 and 9 almost lost me but episode 10 brought me back in, even though it didn’t seem like much of a season finale with the pacing. knew those snakes would return in some form.

just out of curiousity.

Are all the episodes release?

Are there any Weyland Corp references in the show?

All episodes are out. No weyland mention unless it was in episode 8 or 9 where I started to zone out on wtf was going on. The first two episodes and the last one were my favorite of the season. You know it’s Ridley Scott from the jump. They need to improve some of the FX though. 75% of it looks incredible and the other 25% looks like a Sci Fi channel movie of the week. Can’t remember the last show I’ve seen where the production value goes in and out like that.

But there are so many layers to this show I didn’t pick up on after reading reddit. Feel like a dunce and I’m usually able to pick up the deeper meanings. I mean the Adam/Eve is clear from the go but Sol, etc. and Ragnar goes a lot deeper than I thought. It makes me want to go back and do a rewatch. And my appreciation for the show has gone up even more.

Spoilers:

Would like to have understood the storyline behind the "inhabitants" a little more. It felt like they wanted to explore that more this season but ran out of time. It felt rushed. In general, they could have ties up a few more loose ends this season.

I guess there's next season......

Yep.

Again, jarring narrative character change. Campion’s change is just as bad - who began the show questioning where he belonged in the world, and secretly praying, to watching mother turn batshit crazy to not being able to live without her.

Finished this last night. Talk about ending on a weird note. I'm not sure if I will continue with this show. The floating snake baby thing went a little too far.

Once the whole story with rescuing the children was complete midway through the season, the writers must have started fricking with shrooms or something. The last 4-5 episodes were trash. Ragnor goes crazy and an robot gets preggo with a snake. Absolute trash. I did like the Father character though.

Just finished. Really wanted to like it, but it’s just too weird. Anyone got a good Reddit link so they can tell me what I supposed to be watching?

I would love a simpler show about the war on earth though.

By far one of the best episodes of the entire series. There’s so much going on, I am curious as to how they tie it all in. I am also in the camp thinking Mother is about to unhinged in a bad way.
