Curious what everyone opinions are on these two movies?

I for one loved Prometheus and the creation idea that the movie was centered around but I was really disappointed with the Prometheus 2 (Alien: Covenant) follow up. I would have preferred more plot about the creators inplace of just another Alien movie.

Should I give the second movie another shot? What says the Movie/TV board?

Both sucked. Prometheus was more interesting in it's failures. Covenant was just a mess with no vision.

I liked Prometheus. It wasn't what I was expecting but I liked it better after watching it again. Covenant didn't really seem necessary. It was a sequel that didn't move the story forward.

I will watch Prometheus if it is on but I have no desire to see Covenant again.

Prometheus was entertaining but I felt like it asked a lot of questions it didn't have answers to. So certain scenes that I'm sure were supposed to be allegorical just went over my head and made the movie seem clunky.

Covenant had some cool scenes but I just didn't care for it at all. It had the same problems as Prometheus without the far more interesting characters and setting.

They're both a blur. Neither came close to Alien or Aliens. I remember the French chick getting an alien abortion and Magneto shooting basketball.

I've enjoyed all the Alien movies aside from the AVP ones.

It was a blatant rip off of Lovecraft's At The Mountains Of Madness and it's also the reason the studio wouldn't let Guillermo del Toro make Mountains...so it can suck a bag of dicks.

I thought both were good, but they're like all the other scifi movie series. They never advance the story. like Terminator, it's the same repackaged stuff.

I love Prometheus to this day. One of my favorite sci-fi movies.

I wish they weren’t even tied to Alien really. All I care about at this point are the engineers and we won’t ever know shite it seems.

I really liked Prometheus, but most on this board hated it (and I mean HATED it). One of their gripes was that it didn't make much sense and didn't answer many questions. But in reality, it did and they just didn't like the answers at all (similar to Lost).

I thought it was cool, and really good, and very entertaining.

I won't argue that Covenant was very good though.

Agreed. AVP Requiem (I think??) was not good though.

And The Predator movie from earlier this year was borderline awful, if not awful outright.

Lol.

Prometheus was amazing. It’s in my top 10 films of the 2010s. People who lack intellect and just wanted a mindless slasher film hated it. Alien Covenant was a disappointment. Only redeeming part was Fassbender.

Prometheus was awful. Not a bad film, just a bad Alien movie. It would have been better as its own thing.

I respect that Covenant TRIED to make up for Prometheus, but it ultimately failed as well. I think it's more watchable, but still a big mess.

Both films had a big case of "Character does x, y, or z simply to move the narrative to x, yz or z direction." Nothing felt natural.

Prometheus was new age hogwash, and it wasn't even fun hogwash it was just completely bland.

Prometheus as some "intelligent" movie is hilarious. Scott came up with some random strings to tie together, said nothing important whatsoever, and still didn't do a good job of building the Alien universe out further.

AvP did a better job in world-building than Prometheus, and that isn't saying much.

Covenant had a chance to answer (or at least clarify) some of the questions that Prometheus raised, but basically hit fast forward and delete at the same time and skipped ahead to a place nobody cared about.

That's a pretty good way to put it.
