It could be a whole family affair, and would be a nice twist compared to the movie/book while remaining somewhat faithful to the source material.

I enjoyed the finale, a twist from the movie. It wasn't as anxiety inducing as all the other episodes, but it was fine.

I enjoyed it as well, let's try and avoid posting spoilers until tomorrow night when most people watch.

I did think it was a satisfying ending. Outside of a couple complaints in regards to the legal process that we've discussed multiple times, this was a really entertaining watch. I'm looking forward to season 2.

Are we giving away spoilers here?

Very good ending but there seemed to be a couple plot holes regarding the night of the murder of maybe I missed it.

For the first time I successfully predicted the killer.

Exactly! I told my gf I don't care if he did it. I want to see him go to jail either way. I've never rooted against a non-evil (debatable) character so hard.

Yea it became a little predictable. I'm not good at predicting the ending of stuff but there was only one character in the show that had done no wrong so far.

The final few scenes were a little weird where they showed everybody and what they're up to and Molto was just watching a football game drinking a beer. I was like ok, good to know

Looks like season 2 has been greenlit. Haven't said if it's the same cast or whether it will be like a True Detective style anthology.

spoilers.....i guess.

When they came to the house to search everything, she was a bit nervous about them taking her laptop and phone. And she was the one that was pushing her mom to be more mad about the cheating. Just seemed rather obvious that she had plenty of motive.

I kind of figured Rusty knew, or at least thought he knew the whole time and was arrogant enough to be the accused knowing he could get a not guilty verdict and this all goes away. I find it very unsettling that they are just having a nice thanksgiving dinner together as a happy family, knowing your daughter is a cold blooded murderer and the dad is a cheating pos.

I think that's why I enjoyed the conclusion so much.

Spoilers

By the near end of the series, it was established a handful of people could have been the murderer and after what the viewer has watched and learned, you could make a good case for most of the characters. What we ended up with was a family guilty together. Even if the son, outside of watching the victim's house, didn't do anything else we still saw the mom try and cover his tracks by washing the bike. They're now all in it together forever.

This is exactly what I think they were trying to convey. They're now stuck together as a shitty family. You can see three husband/wife look at the end during the Thanksgiving scene. I think you're left with the realization that this family will eventually crack, and you're seeing it play it in that final scene. Pretty damn good ending

I like this point. Does kind of make me like the end a little better even though I don't think the son could really be held guilty on anything at this point. He's still in the dark.

This is where the show was held back a little as far as going all in on liking it. I don't really think they established that really anybody could have done it. I felt like Rusty put it best in his closing statement when he said "Why are we here?" Exactly what I was thinking the whole time.

Seems like once the murder weapon was put in Tommy's house the trial probably should have stopped. Molto and the DA basically admitted that they figured Rusty didn't put it there. Well at least the DA did. So shouldn't that tell you that someone else was the murderer/cause you to step back and think "yea we need to be investigating this further."

But, as a previous poster said, I guess I just need to maybe let go of thinking this was anything like what would happen in a real case. Probably like it a lot better if I could do that.

I didn't really think of her of a suspect until she hugged Rusty before the trial. She looked very anxious and I figured she knew something about the murder she wasn't telling him.

Also, why did Rusty think his wife did it while he tied Carolynn up?

He had a tracker on her car after she kissed the bartender and he saw the car went to Molto's house. So he assumed she was the one who took the murder weapon there/the person who had the murder weapon was the killer.

I get all that but all that was done after the murder.

Why did he think so the night of murder?

She knew about the affair, he probably figured that she found about them being together again and that she had the most motive out of anyone.

That’s my best guess.

Well you know, a lot of people read the book and saw the movie. So twists and turns won’t mean much.
But we’re going to watch even though we know the ending.

Theory...

On the night she was killed, he visited her twice. We know this.

After he left the first time, he went home and his wife's car was gone because the daughter had taken it to follow him and eventually murder Carolyn. When he was home, he didn't go in his bedroom and potentially not even the house so he didn't know his wife was still home. He thought she was gone.

Then he visits Carolyn a second time and she's been murdered.

Puts it all together then.
