Finally getting around to S2. 4 episodes down. I agree that the first few needed more Charlie. She makes the show. Her mannerisms and voice make me laugh.
Gator Joe having to shite was hilarious to me.
I never found her hot, until this show. Maybe its the voice and trailer park vibes that get me haha.

Gotta say...wasn't a huge fan of S2E7. I was disappointed, because Episode 6 was great...but Episode 8 "The Sleazy Georgian" was totally redemptive. Love this series.

Episode 9 went a little further into being unrealistic than series usual does for the premise behind murder, speed of relationship involved to get to point of talking marriage, the physical fear some had of the murderer, and how Charlie set up the murder to be found out. It also seemed strange they didn’t actually show the murder happening like it was leaving open possibility of rescue, but then it also immediately let audience know the person died as soon as Charlie walks back up to apartment building.
Episode 10 has been difficult to get into and even more so once they started up after the murder. The trans playing an actual female as Charlie’s gym buddy is off (at least it appears to be so far at there start of Charlie’s becoming part of story). I thought character was off in episode 9, but was only on screen briefly. This episode seems to be a bigger character at least so far at the beginning of Charlie’s presence which made the trans part more obvious, which made it more obvious. Not sure if initial interest by the victim is supposed to know this or not or if episode will keep the character a woman, but I do expect Hollywood to push more trans as real women and men characters in the future.

Enjoyed this season. I know there’s 2 left.
They did a good job of shaking it up and making it not the exact same every episode.
Several of the deaths were accidental and less malicious than the first season. Lots more sympathy than the first.
Richard Kind’s death was the hardest.
Also a little nugget is that the victim in episode 8 Melanie Lynskey, is married to Jason Ritter, victim in episode 10.

It’s offbeat and may not be for everyone, but the concept is unique, and we think it’s a fun watch. You have to be okay with Natasha Lyonne. I think she’s clever and amusing in this series…

They finally upped the stakes some in the last episode.

The first half of the season was pretty meh, but it picked up and has been really good from the sloppy Joseph episode onwards.

i enjoyed that they shook up the pre-meditated murders. had a bit more sympathy for the accidental ones this season.
And i really liked the cast. Giancarlo Esposito, Simon rex, Martindale, Sam Richardson. Melanie Lynskey, Method Man, Mulaney, Richard Kind, etc.

I have to admit, the back half off season 2 was very good.. Catches its stride around episode 6

Finally finished it last night. I really do enjoy this show.
I was expecting it to be Steve Buscemi to pick her up at the end. But Steve Earle will do. Hope he sticks around for 3rd season (assuming there is one?)
I think one more season on the run from the FBI would be fun and then wrap it up.

Just started reading this thread and was wondering why people were calling this a new show.
The I realized the thread started in 2023.
Carry on.

That ended as a great season. I was tempted to come in here and complain about the cartoonish turn in the early episodes but I think with the Woody Allenish rent control episode it took off. By the way, the Asian grandmother was played by famous voice actress Lauren Tom. Besides her roles in DC animation this board would know her as Connie and Minh Souphanousinphone on King of the Hill, and Amy Wong on Futurama.
I love that Charlie now has her Moriarity.
Justin Theroux with that wandering eye had me screaming.

The transgender actor playing Alex?
Is it transphobic that they made the best liar on the show a trans (or played by a trans not sure what character is doing with gender)?

Some spoilers below:
To add to the fake-out, anyone upset that they forced a best-friend character into the show just to add a recurring trans actor would then see that they cast a trans as a villain. Something you wouldn't see coming in today's culture.
If the writers did get with the casting director and ask for a trans actor to fake out the audience concerning the show's intentions, that's another level of awesomeness.

quote:Not sure which language you're speaking in (calling ICE on you just to be sure), but if you're asking if it's transphobic to note that the perfect liar on the show is portrayed by a trans person, it would probably depend how the show defines the character. Unless I missed something, they never refer to the character as being trans. "Alex" is referred to as a woman. Patti Harrison did a good job of playing both a ditzy friend and a super-villain. Her sexuality was only hinted at with her pretend crush on the assassin.
Is it transphobic they made the best liar about who they are a trans (or played by a trans not sure what character is doing)?

I really enjoyed the first half of episodes, at least as much as the 2nd half. Thought the whole season was good.
