From Wikipedia

quote:

In physics and fiction, a wormhole is a hypothetical topological feature of spacetime that would be, fundamentally, a 'shortcut' through space and time. Although they are very popular in science fiction, there is no actual evidence that they exist. For a simple visual explanation of a wormhole, consider spacetime visualized as a two-dimensional (2-D) surface Now, if we 'fold' this surface along a (non-existant) 3rd dimension, it allows us to picture a wormhole 'bridge'. A wormhole is, in theory, much like a tunnel with two ends each in separate points in space-time.

What about in Shawshank, after Andy escapes, they check his cell and find the hole in the wall behind the poster. The problem is, the poster is secured to the wall on each corner. How the frick was Andy able to secure each corner from inside that hole?

i've been reading this screenplay. i'll look and see if this is explained.

Meh. All very theoretical.

Event Horizon talked about the bending of time concept.

Star Trek really honed in on the concept. The discovery of wormholes was made studying black holes, as they are one of the only known objects that has enough power to generate such a bend in energy.

Wormholes are still a hypothesis, and thus have not been "discovered"...yet.

Picking nits here, of course.

I believe there is 20 years difference from III to IV. The aging is justifiable, IMO.

Pearl Harbor...

Allowing Ben Affleck to live is a huge plot hole to me...

( I know it is not a plot hole but If I am asked to make a complaint about a movie's script I usually give a gut reaction to this one..)

From Moviemistakes.com, here is a good one from Ocean's Eleven.

Where do the flyers come from that are in the bags that are carried out of the vault and into the van? Danny and Linus couldn't have taken them down there and there is no room with the Chinese man. They are carried out to the van before the SWAT team appears, which means they'd have to have been in the vault to start with? In the commentary by Steven Soderbergh he acknowledges that there's no explanation.

De Ja Vu, was definitely this way. I tend to enjoy it for what it is when it comes to time travel.

I always got the impression that Luke was meant to be a teenager in IV (they sure metion the fact that he is just a boy enough) Alec Guiness was 63 when Star Wars was made.

In Shank, the pipe is clearly clay not metal.

He doesn't cut a hole in it, he smashes a hole into it. It would have been a short trip if the pipe was any form of metal.

Luke is 19 or 20 in Episode IV.

eta. McGregor was 34 when III came out. Obviously, Guiness looks older than 54 years old in IV but I think it is close enough to avoid the huge plot hole discussion.

some of the plot holes in shawshank (or just questionable things)

-youve got an ultra religious warden, so to hide your 20 years worth of digging, you keep scantily clad women posters up? thats taking a big chance

-andy is much taller than the warden, but the wardens suit fits him fine when he leaves

-how could andy know the hayfield and or the rock would still be there

-did he look at prison blueprints? what if he digs for 20 years and there is no pipe there, or if the pipe is too small

weak

good point

where would it have gone? It's not like this was the era of urban sprawl.

I guess he knew there was a chance that the hole digging could have lead to nothing.

All ghost movies (Sixth Sense, The Others, Passengers etc). If they dont realize they're dead dont they have to go out grocery shopping and come in contact with real people?

i don't remember them showing how well it fit him. i guess the jacket would have been a little tight but i don't remember seeing the legs. either way, this sort of thing doesn't concern me too much. they are just fictional characters.
