Also good is the very similar themed movie Dutch.

Why do so many comedies take place in Chicago

Neal: I could tolerate any insurance seminar. For days, I could sit there and listen to them go on and on with a big smile on my face. They'd say, "How can you stand it?" I'd say, "'Cause I've been with Del Griffith. I can take anything." You know what they'd say? They'd say, "I know what you mean. The shower curtain ring guy. Whoa." It's like going on a date with a Chatty Cathy doll. I expect you have a little string on your chest, you know, that I pull out and have to snap back. Except I wouldn't pull it out and snap it back, you would. Agh! Agh! Agh! Agh! And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea: have a point. It makes it so much more interesting for the listener!

“Well I’m not changing. I like me. My wife likes me.”

Poor, sweet Del. The love of his wife was the only armor he had against a cruel world.

Always thought it was interesting how this movie was kind of attached at the hip with Hughes other movie “She’s having a Baby” which is also pretty good. Apparently Hughes filmed both movies around the exact same time?

One of the best comedies of all time. A true classic that can be watched every year with the same laughter as the first run. 10/10

Acting was underated.

Not just Candy but Steve Martin over selling his role as a titanic a-hole in the first two acts makes the movie go.

Well that should be making sense right about now.

I do agree that outside of one scene, it’s definitely terribly R rated.

ive seen it plenty of times before. I guess it just feels pretty tame compared to today's R rated movies

No doubt. But it has to be because of the “frick” scene. Outside of that it’s definitely tame and pretty harmless.

This is one of those movies, for me, I can't watch on TV due to the editing of that scene. Was reminded of that today when I stumbled on it right as the scene started. So stupid with all the fricks edited out

Stop complaining and just accept the Fn Datsun or anything else on 4 Fn wheels. Or else I’ll laugh in your Fn face for being left in the Fn middle of Fn nowhere.

I was reading the movie's trivia page on IMDB. I never paid enough attention but it says the exterior shots of the plane are recycled from Airplane! (minus the prop sounds).
