I think he put it best:

quote:

"It's like someone shot John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison all in one night. That's how I feel. Mark David Chapman had a machine gun."

I kept thinking that during the cave scene. Rey narrates the entire thing.

It was just bad.

Not every emotion has to be explained. We don’t need narration for every scene and I don’t need to know every individual’s feelings.

Nope, can’t have that. We have to have everything narrated to us like we are idiots.

As bad as the George Lucas prequels were, at least they felt like they took place in the Star Wars universe. These new movies feel like a parody of Star Wars — a combination of Nickelodeon special and bad Saturday Night Live sketch.

Wow that's perfectly summed up. From abandoning the storylines of TFA, to ruining old favorite characters, to introducing horrible new characters, to SJW for SJW's sake, to politics and to have subplots as pointless as pretending the last film with the same group has anything to do with this movie.

And yes the OG cast was young, but he's right they didn't feel like this Nickalodeon crowd who are too self-aware the are in a Star Wars movie...and just goofing around, like fantasy camp.

shite, I make an argument about how it fails at even reaching the high grounds of a Nickelodeon special: LINK

I'll agree with the bad SNL sketch though.

There are so many things wrong with Rian Johnson's abomination it's honestly hard to know where to begin - the criminal waste of Luke's {removed because of spoiler}, the nonsensical plot, completely pointless casino mission, flying space Leia, Rose's entire character, the Phantom Menace-level awful "Resistance Kids.

There it is, in a nutshell.

i did my damndest to ignore everything related to this movie. i wanted to give it my honest attention without any preconcieved notions.

it was awful. i just cant buy the little midget asian sjw as a hero anymore than the fact leia has nothing but women running the rebel..err..'resistance'. thanks hollywood for ruining a great movie with your contempt for our president.

and marilyn manson as the leader of the empire?? are you SHITTING me. this has to be the worst bad guy in the history of movies.

From unceremoniously killing off Snoke to dismissing the importance of Rey’s parentage to turning the ending of The Force Awakens into a literal throwaway joke by having Luke chuck the lightsaber, The Last Jedi is almost painfully self-aware in rejecting the previous film.

That stings.

was wasted on the worst character to ever appear in a Star Wars movie, instead of being given to Admiral Ackbar, a fan favourite and established character, who was instead killed off-screen and referenced in one line of dialogue.

That too. I still wonder, what was the harm in keeping Ackbar in play and treating him like Mon Motha? Not a major player screen time wise, not someone to put speeches or political statements into, just a leader getting stuff done? Why not go that direction? I mean I know why, see quote #1, but that's infuriating.

It’s so awful I can’t stop thinking about it

It’s one of those movies where you could write a novel about everything wrong with it. You feel the need to draw the whole map and not just one street

I thought of a new one today that I haven't seen brought up: Why would Chewie have flown into that cave? I mean its really the exact same shot as in TFA, but Rey knew the inside of that Star Destroyer like the back of her hand and knew there was a way out. For all Chewie knows, at any given turn is a dead end/certain death. Instead they just wanted to give a cool shot of the Millennium Falcon we've seen a half dozen times before.

It’s fan service

It’s recreating the scene from return of the Jedi where they fly into the Death Star

For all the talk of originality johnson uses pre-established concepts and imagery at every turn. None of these Star Wars movies no matter how you feel about them can stand on their own feet except the first 2. You can love return of the Jedi or rogue one, but take away pre-established concepts, images, design and/or characters and they’re average at best
