Man, what a way to go through life.

It’s entertaining as frick and a simple morality tale.

I’ve been shocked to see so many people disliking this movie

Everyone in the movie save for Michelle Pfeiffer was of Italian descent pretending to be Cuban.

I agree the hate is over-the-top (maybe because over-saturation and the damn poster was on every Cribs episode) but the acting is also over-the-top and the movie is like a really long Miami Vice episode with more gore.

Which is entertaining...but it's not a great movie.

(It fits nicely in the category of what movies are the most 80's.)

Good story, great poster, mediocre acting, below average movie.

I’ll probably catch a ton of hate, but I’ve always wanted to see that movie remade. Not sure who I’d like to see direct it. I preferred De Palma’s Carlito’s Way.

Its highly overrated. They could cut about 30 minutes out of the middle and improve it quite a bit.

I’m certain Stephen Bauer was Jewish and Cuban

And it got him killed at the hands of two Italians - bro and sis.

I don't hate it. I just think it's a mediocre movie that keeps jumping up and down and begging for attention, a whole 'Hey! Hey! Lookit me and how awesome and cool and badass I am!' And the morality fable is very clumsily executed -- it's hardly better than that appalling effort Eszterhas put forth in "Showgirls" where one can practically see the writer(s) patting themselves on the back for adding the most plodding, predictable moral to the story imaginable and telling themselves it's deep. Hell, it was done, with much more flair and even subtlety, by the ancient Greeks.

If you want a great perfectly-executed morality fable about the dangers of crime, just stick with
the Godfathers. They might not have a mountain of cocaine or dual-wielded assault weapons, but they make up for it in great storytelling.

The parts of the movies I don't like are the ones engrained in pop culture that are overplayed "Say hello to..."

Favorite parts are when Tony is having to put up with Suarez.

Scarface may have been the original try-to-hard gangster movie.

I think only people on this board dislike it. At the time it had an almost Shakespearean plot with some truly great scenes.

Great soundtrack as well. It was a solid movie IMHO with some of the most quotable lines of any movie. Not perfect, but solid.

Gene Hackman, Michelle Pfifer and Al Pacino and the movie has bad acting? GTFO
