I’ve seen a lot of hype for this movie and while I thought it was a good movie, it wasn’t spectacular to me. I admit I’m not a sophisticated film critic by any means, so maybe someone can tell me what it is about this movie that makes it so special and garners so much affection?

I also didn't get the big change everyone was talking about. It was weird in the beginning and weird in the end.

You don’t enjoy the smell of your own farts enough to appreciate this movie.

everyone’s jerking it off for the political commentary of the divide between the have and have nots

The irony is how much Hollywood loves it considering they’re the Uber rich

You're talking about a group of people who named the fish fricking movie best picture a couple of years ago.

Every best picture winner has to have some kind of political propaganda angle to it. And this one is a foreign film, so they get to sit around sucking their own dicks about how worldly and diversity-y they are.

And the ones who will come on here to say you are just too dumb to appreciate it. Never fails

My wife and I watched, thought it was entertaining glad we saw it.
Probably would have enjoyed it more, had I not going it thinking I'm watching the movie that won the Oscar for best film

Hopefully admin will move any future transparent Parasite threads to the Poli Talk Board, where they belong.

What was the political angle of the fish movie again?

Really? Pretty much everything, from the chick and her co-workers plight in racist America right down to the kindhearted communist spy who helps her.

Did you think it won best picture for fish fricking?

No, I think it won because it recalled a very specific vintage style of American filmmaking from the 1950s, including in it an old theater showing old movies. It combines a nostalgic bit of romance with a nostalgic bit of monster and spins a very clichéd and predictable conflict from that set up.

Oscar voters saw something old and comforting, even if that thing was dressed as a fish monster. There's nothing progressive in including black coworkers, especially when they don't do anything. Fast forward to a year later, when a movie that showed a racist white knew better how to be black than the black guy did won best picture.

If you look for idiot politics in movies, you'll find them, because you want to.

Parasite, by the way, for the dude who's too busy accusing people of sniffing farts to watch the movie, is a popcorn blockbuster. It made tons of money in Korea, the US, and over the world. People seem to like it because it has the entertainment value of an audience-pleaser with an air-tight script that wastes no lines or minutes, and is filled with great performances. There's nothing hoity-toity or "artsy" about it.

Or maybe it's because the people who made the movie put it in there.

Guillermo del Toro has a not-so-closely guarded secret: His new fantasy film The Shape of Water is rife with coded commentary on the current political climate. “The movie is about today. It’s about everything that we’re dealing with today — the toxic division of the ideology of us and them,” Del Toro said during a panel with actor Doug Jones at Vulture Festival in Los Angeles.

But if you don't believe Guillermo, you're never going to believe anyone.

GASP! How dare Guillermo?! Lord knows "tehy" never experienced racism.

Nobody likes heavy-handedness but you people bitching about "SJWs" in seemingly every other thread here is miserable. It is you who are the easily offended, heavy handed ones.

Go back to making a complete fool of yourself over the "Chinese" coronavirus with the rest of the Poli Board, you media conspiracy theorist idiot clown.

a.k.a. pointing out the obvious politics that were put into the movie by the director who then discussed it with several interviewers.

Yeah, we must be imagining things.

If blueboy hates it, it's probably a great movie that conflicts with his extremely narrow worldview. I will now have to see it.
