Anyone seen this? About this fertility doctor who secretly used his own specimen for years and ended up with like a hundred kids and eventually was exposed.

It’s weird to me because these “kids” of his are so angry with him - which I get - but also there is a realization that they wouldn’t exist if he hadn’t done it. I don’t take these people as self loathing but they speak about how terrible this man was (which I agree) and how awful he was for doing it (which I agree - but my existence doesn’t rely on his awful act).

Anyway - interesting documentary if you haven’t seen it but the mental frickery of trying to reconcile his perverse actions with their ability to have any life is very strange.

I watched the one about the doctor who sold people's babies. That was pretty crazy.

Just read up on it. Pretty crazy that has he not lied to investigators he would have done no jail time. His only criminal act was obstruction of justice.

Yeah what he did wasn’t technically illegal.

Apparently he wasn’t the only fertility doctor who did this.

I don’t believe laws were in place for something like that at the time

I could see some justification if the husband was sterile. But it was fricked up how he was tossing the husband’s viable sperm to use his own.

Netflix has some pretty fricked up documentaries. I saw this one advertise, but I haven't watched it. I might check it out.

Yeah the guy definitely used it as a power trip. He was tossing the husband’s sperm or in some cases not using the donor samples the patients had chosen.

I caught some of it when my wife was watching it.

Besides the whole mislead about who your father is/was, they were pissed because;
He had an autoimmune disease that is genetic and hereditary
He knowingly served as an OBGYN to one of his own daughters without her knowing
A huge chunk of his patients were in a relatively small area, so there was the possibility of half siblings dating/marrying without knowing they are related

No, I get all that and it makes sense. But they literally wouldn’t exist without him doing what he did. That’s where the mindfrick really comes into play. And of course some of them, sadly, may wish they had not been born.

I had to turn it off after they started the whole master race/white guilt drum beating. It was an interesting story until then.

That was a strange addition especially since it just kind of got thrown in and wasn’t really pursued beyond the 3-4 minutes it got thrown out as a theory for his actions.
