Richard Roeper (Chicago Sun-Times): Magnificent. Christopher Nolan’s three-hour historical biopic Oppenheimer is a gorgeously photographed, brilliantly acted, masterfully edited and thoroughly engrossing epic that instantly takes its place among the finest films of this decade.

quote:

EMPIRE: A masterfully constructed character study from a great director operating on a whole new level. A film that you don’t merely watch, but must reckon with.

quote:

USA Today: Cillian Murphy turns in a haunting career-best performance as theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, and Robert Downey Jr. astounds in a way we haven’t seen in quite some time.

Can't wait to see Nolan turn a straightforward story into 25 separate stitched together backwards stories that fuse into one the last 2 minutes of the movie and has horrible audio!

Nolan did it again!!

You might want to put a "Spoilers" or "No Spoilers" option on your subject line OP

It’s okay to admit you’re not smart enough to enjoy his movies. Enjoy watching Barbie this weekend!

Fully expected this response. So typical

Your guy is an extroardinarily overrated director. Still good but you'd think he was in a tier of his own with the way people talk about him. It's okay to admit that his sound quality sucks dick and that his movies are unnecessarily complex. It's good to make the audience think but maybe don't make your basic arse story with horrid dialogue sound quality (looking at you Tenet) impossible for your audience to understand.

Not asking for much here.

I found 1 ticket available in the Nashville IMAX that has 70 mm. There is only 1 available and is on the far side, front row. I think I'll wait a few weekends for this to hopefully thin out a little bit but I it's hard to pass up.

I like almost all of Nolan’s films. But Tenet had some major issues with sound and over complexity with plot despite Pattinson and Washington being fantastic. I don’t really think any of his other movies are like that, though

Right, and you’re bringing the hard hitting, fresh analysis to this thread.

That’s a massive word salad that I refuse to read, so I’m going to assume it’s the ramblings of a small mind unable to grasp genius.

I have high hopes for this. Could certainly see it being polarizing.

So you're talking about Tenet. Because that's the only movie that is overly complex. Not sure what other movie would be impossible to understand for anyone over the age of 15. His other movies make you think, o the horror! Making you think definitely makes for an extraordinary director.

Even Tenet was not overly complex. It was not hard to understand either audibly or conceptually.

I would say that dunkirk was unnecessarily complex. Even though I enjoyed it the first time, I haven’t felt the need to go back again.

Nolan is the best filmmaker of the last 30 years, and he's one of the all time greats. This is going to be epic.
