It's officially one year since the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. What was at one point one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year became one of the most divisive films of the Star Wars franchise. People either loved it or hated it, but no matter what end of the spectrum you fell on, director Rian Johnson is proud of the film and thankful for everyone who saw and discussed it.

There are very few blockbusters that had quite the same reaction as Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Some people loved the movie because it went in unpredictable directions and deconstructed tropes of a Star Wars movie

Some people hated it because certain plotlines resulted in dead ends and it failed to deliver on the mysteries built up by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Friends, it has been approximately 78 centuries since the release of the latest film in the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Or, in 2018's interpretation of linear time, exactly one year since Rian Johnson’s movie hit theaters and changed the Star Wars fandom forever...for better or worse. So let’s look back, and wonder why we’re still debating it at this point.

Whether you fall in the camp of loving or loathing The Last Jedi, suffice to say at this point your opinion on it is not going to suddenly be swayed in the opposite direction. And yet, the wars rage on. So why are camps of Star Wars fans still locked in perpetual battle like some sort of ancient Jedi/Sith prophecy that plays out with Twitter snipes instead of laser swords.

As far as reading this board is concerned...the most entertaining Star Wars installment to date.

I was in so much denial after I got out on opening night. I kept telling myself that it wasn’t that bad and then I slept on it and realized Star Wars was dead.

Basically the anniversary of this board’s version of the Snap.

I knew that everything outside of Rey and Kyle Ren was awful, but it probably took me about 12 hours of lying to myself that even that was bad. I knew something was wrong with the “Yo Momma” start, and then knew something was horribly, horribly wrong when Luke threw the lightsaber over his shoulder.

I didn't hate it as much as some of you do, I just thought it was pretty boring. That scene, however, was insulting. I have no idea how a scene like that gets approved.

But but it subverted your expectations!

Outside of the Rey and Kylo fight it was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

I remember before seeing it that it couldn’t possibly be that bad. That there was no way the audience score was right. I still think that’s one of the biggest disparities in RT history. Just an abysmal audience score. But I sat there and kept waiting and waiting for someone to slap me and tell me it was a joke or for there to be some semblance of Star Wars but there was none

At least you were aware of it. I went in with it having a 95% on RT and didn’t read any of the reviews. I felt absolutely sucker punched by it. I just couldn’t believe what I saw.

Its more entertaining than Rogue One. I'll be at Sonic if anyone wants to discuss it.

Legitimately the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. Ever.

And it continues today.

I firmly believe there should be a comic book, super hero, Star Wars, fantasy board.
