Watched this movie for the first time last night. I have no idea why I waited so long. Fantastic movie, and Jack was masterful.

It is outstanding.

One of the most moving, all time great endings. Stunningly poignant, encompassing tragedy, lost opportunities, seized opportunities, hope, humanity, life, death, the human spirit, freedom, imprisonment, fear, bravery, the unknown...all in a few minutes.

The acting is brilliant. The score is hauntingly beautiful.

Where did you watch?

Netflix has a new series out about Nurse Ratched called "Ratched," but my wife hasn't seen the original film yet so I'm hoping to watch that first.

Same situation as you, it's also on Netflix. Fiance and I watched it this weekend then started Ratched.

It is an incredible movie. I think Danny DeVito should've won awards for his performance in this movie.

I just watched it on Netflix this week. Can't say Ratched looks any good after seeing the real character.

I saw it several years ago and actually started Ratched last night.

In order to appreciate "Ratched" you have to realize there is little to no affiliation to the film, and that the events in Ratched take place well before the setting of Cuckoo's Nest. Once you realize it isn't a prequel, then you can watch/appreciate it on its own merit.

Great movie.

Just noticed... the actor who played Billy from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, was Doc Cochran from Deadwood.

He was excellent. Took a while to figure out it was him.

My wife and I watched it again just before starting Ratched. It is one of a handful of movies I have owned on VHS, Laser Disc, DVD, and Blu ray (no UHD yet).

As an aside, I dated a girl in college who looked EXACTLY like Louise Fletcher. She leaned into it and we went to a Halloween party and she did her hair like Ratched and wore an old white nurses uniform and hat. The drunker I got the more freaked out I got. Woke up the next morning with a hangover and had to convince myself it wasn't from electro-shock.

Robert Shaw for Jaws was the real snub that year brother.

Agreed. Besides that it is a show that should not be made, it looks, based on the trailer, they are turning her into a comic book villain. It undermines the brilliance of her character in the book and movie.

Watched it again last night...been many years since I had seen it and it was every bit as good as the first time. The casting in this movie is one of the best ever. What a great movie that hits so many buttons as previously mentioned.

Boat scene is classic. Introduces everyone as doctor except Harding. even the famous Dr. Scanlon

After watching it I can't agree. She functioned in the same cruel manipulative way she did in Cuckoo's Nest. The violence created by her manipulation was certainly worse though.

Well that's at least somewhat refreshing. The trailer played the supervillain angle
