Beth’s character still makes sense. She’s been cranked up a bit this season but with Jamie every other conversation and or sentence contradicts the one before it. The writing for his character is so bad it jolts you out of experiencing the show.

No it doesn’t. She’s in my mind the worst written character on television.

Didn’t think of that. Or just lease it

For example he’s in bed with the woman and he accuses her of sleeping with him for an angle. After feigning being upset she confirms his suspicions and he just says ok no problem. Tonight she brings the other lawyer that she pretended to break away from into his office and he doesn’t bat an eye. I know he’s two faced and ambitious but are we really to believe a snake like him would get into bed with people who just duped him? How are we supposed to believe he’s smart and devious when stuff like this is always happening?

She might annoy you but her character doesn’t have these giant contradictions or holes in it. She’s a lot like John’s character, very cliched and extreme in their archetypes.

She annoys me because she’s a fricking piece of shite who we’re supposed to believe just gets away with everything. But her character does have massive holes in it.

How is John’s archetype extreme?

How the f*** do you own "the largest ranch in Montana" and have no room any where for your herd? WTF.

The rugged frontier cowboy schtick is extreme. This is a man who managed a vast amount of land, was cattle commissioner, is constantly in tune with law enforcement, businessmen and government officials yet he’s depicted as some shut in, out of time person living in a different century. Sure some of it is for effect and to drive his side of the conflict but it is an extreme example of a type. What’s good about John is we get him in small doses and Costner does a great job with his delivery and tone. With Beth her rage is always front and center on screen so her character exhausts people.

Jamie also spilled out the beans that his application and essay and acceptance to Harvard came without his awareness.

Of course he did because this highly intelligent, unbeatable states attorney also has the mind of an 8 year old boy. One minute all he ever wanted was to be a cowboy, the next he wants to be governor. He wants to be the one to save the Ranch because it’s all he’s ever loved and to do that he’ll default his fathers policies and allow a corporation to destroy it because… um… well… he wants to be governor. Oh and BTW I guess he forgot Beth has a picture of him with a dead body, his own father no less because again he’s super smart. It’s so painfully stupid.

I’m sure someone has already asked this but why are they all sleeping in tents 100 yards away from the bunkhouse and the big house?

I thought they were going out far away with the herd but they’re just camped right there by the houses?

I think they gave all the rooms from the bunkhouse and other houses to the guests for that cookout.

My only feedback is on this paraphrased conversation:

Beth: "You never thought of it because you're a rancher. I'm a businessman."

She has come up with no ideas to monetize the ranch in 40+ years of life. Now she claims to be a businessman, which really is just her stealing the business model from another ranch.

This is what passes as clever to Beth Dutton.

I already had a hard time buying her as some extraordinary business savant. This just seals it.

Also, I know it's TV but they have nowhere near the amount of cattle for a self sustaining ranch.

I've seen more cattle in Hackberry, LA than that little bit they call a "herd".

If this is the largest ranch in Montana they should have 10x the cattle.

Lol yea she fricking looks at a website, calls them to ask how they run it, the don’t get into any detail and it’s like boom, genius, problem solved. Another thing kind of in that same vein, we see how they live, what they drive, John has an in house chef but they’re broke and the ranch has no money? Really?

I like that he said they needed to lease 100,000 acres.
He’s a dumbass and a bully.

Jamie has to be the most gullible, pussy whipped person ever. Dude is part of the most well known family in Montana. Is supposed to be a successful lawyer, has been livestock commissioner and is now Attorney General but, the slightest whiff of pussy turns him into an idiot.

I mean Charlie Brown at least suspected Lucy was lying. But, this Harvard educated Attorney has been duped by a reporter, fricked silly by his campaign manager, convinced to turn on the only family he's ever know by an ex-con, drug head broke assed bio-dad, and now fricked into trying to impeach his adoptive dad governor. conveniently forgetting about the body dumping pics.

How can they send their best hands away from the ranch for a year? splitting up all of the couples except of course for john and his hippie slam piece.

Who is left to run the ranch? Lloyd and Colby? Oh and he's sending Gator too? Guess they'll be eating takeout a lot.

It was 100,000 but when he gets on the phone it's 5,000 with grass.
