I disagree. I think the first two have ages well, though X2 is clearly the best of the series. X3 is an abomination that should never be discussed.

In fact, the best parts of the first movie are the scenes with Rogue trying to find herself. Her scenes with Wolverine are the best in the movie.

Agree with most of this, I just think that they could have done more with the first one, and certainly not cast Hallie Berry as Storm, who is absolutely terrible as her.

it only had a $75M budget

Budget is hardly the issue in the film with me. None of it looks cheap and the special effects still very much hold up today. I just think that the comic book films have evolved into something else entirely. You can't blame the film at all since it was pretty much the first modern day Superhero film.

Saw it y'day and really enjoyed it. Some observations:

Jennifer Lawrence did a great job as Mystique. She's a little chunky, and I think it's great for movies to show a chunky female.

January Jones did not look too good, and did not show ANY acting skills. Her lines sounded like they came from a monotone robot.

McAvoy did a good job, but sounded like Austin Powers. If I closed my eyes, I would swear it was Austin Powers on screen.

The movie was visually entertaining, and I would see it again.

Seriously. I'm a little stumped by the fact that people are calling her "chunky". I mean she may have puffy checks, but some girls just have that. I kinda find it sexy to be honest.

I could see why you might think that. Oh, wait, no I can't. You're an idiot.

for a female starring in a hollywood movie, she's certainly chunky

look at her arms/legs

*ETA: in the movie. she looks a lot more fit in the pic in the red dress above
