Oh internet...

I love that they couldn't bother to use a photo that wasn't "Getty images".

if you are an avg fan that didnt look into spoilers, you probably thought Abe was the only one going to die. Negan starts talking and you think he will drag this killing out like the last one. Then he hauls off on Glen. Which is more gruesome than Abes death.

Completely agree. I don't care about spoilers (Imma watch anyways if I like the show/movie/whatever), but not knowing what was coming did make it more shocking for me.

This might be a stupid question, but what was Neegan's logic for killing a second person? Was it because Daryl punched him?

That's exactly why. After Glenn lashed out during the season 6 finale, negan mentions that "that one is free" comment and if it happens again, someone will die. Then in the premiere, after killing Abe, began rubs the kill in that one chicks face (the one that Abe was banging originally). Darryl "defends her honor" by lashing out and sucker punching him. Megan re-establishes his dominance by reminding them what would happen if there was another interruption and then proceeded to bash his brains in.

100% correct. Glenn's death falls 100% on Daryl's shoulders. I hope that the show writes in his realization of that and how he copes with causing one of his best friends deaths.

Negan was EXPLICITLY clear that there would be no more outbursts. He stated specifically, "I will shut that shite down. No Exceptions". After Daryl made the mistake of having an outburst, Negan was forced to either

1.) show this new group of people that he was a pushover, or
2.) show this new group of people that he was a man of his word.

Negan has some twisted sense of honor and nobility about him. One of the things he values above all others is truth and honesty, that a man is a man of his word. In real life, this is a great leadership skill. You set expectations and follow through on results.

Negan never once lied to them or misled them. Through all of our experiences with Negan so far he has been 100% upfront and honest. Why should we be shocked and disgusted when he killed Glenn? He set a very unambiguous, specific expectation that there would be no outbursts, laid out specifically what would happen if there were, then he played his card when backed into a corner.

He may be brutal, but he is a man of his word who can be trusted. Not even Rick is that. I recall in the past Rick being disingenuous when they arrived in Alexandria. He played nice and pretty, while behind their backs conspired with Daryl that if things didn't go their way they would just take over the city for themselves.

Is it weird that I like negan?

Like, I'm not rooting for him to Lucille Rick or anything but I really like his role in the show

No. You like him because he's a leader. A real leader, not some self absorbed power hungry egomaniac like Rick. He's just on the opposite side of what you have been groomed to believe are the good guys.

Does that narrative change if Rick keeps his promise and kills Negan?

I thought at times Negan's acting was cringeworthy, and not because of the violence or how twisted he may seem, but his acting in general was all over the place. Found myself laughing when he tried to be serious about shutting the shite down and his attempted portrayal of villainous swagger.

Damn, why is everyone trying to rip on rick? He's in a bad situation right now, but shite, he's helped and saved countless other people... I don't envy his position as leader in a time like this

This. This is also what makes me think Daryl will be dead before the end of the season.

Yeah, but that was like 6 months ago. Maybe he forgot.
