Alcoholism and drug addiction stemming from the loss of his family?
Seems pretty damn human to me
Yep, plus losing his daughter and marriage. This show is gowing to be great.

Santeria is a syncretic religion which mixes Catholicism and traditional afro-Caribbean religions (some are known as Voodou). I took a class at Alabama on Haitian Voodou and Rastafarianism and we did a whole unit Santeria.
All the little things (the Devil nets, the green eared spaghetti monster, the deer antlers) seem to point to a Santeria/Christian Fundamentalist Cult.

I don't think it's the preacher.

meh
they showed these flaws from the angle of "he's such a higher performing organism that he has to take nerve pills to pass out"

I'm just saying not always speaking in metaphors and riddles.

Yeah, they mentioned Santeria at one point. Definitely seems like it has something to do with it.

His daughter died... I know that would crush me.

Pretty sure it's 8 episodes.

I apologize if mentioned already , but most of the canefield type scenes were filmed behind Oak Alley plantation in vacherie along 3127. My uncle works there and informed me last year around this time when they were filming

I didn't see it like that. Now I think that's what he wants people to think but that's not how addiction works.
Plus the comment of "I don't sleep just dream". That man has some very big demons roaming around in his head

cops don't talk like this, especially in south louisiana

you're also ignoring how he refuses to be social and lives with an inflatable mattress and nothing else
he would never have been hired by LSP talking like that or acting how he does. he's not a human. he's a character
hendo wants him to become more like a person, and not some symbol of tortured genius (Who, for some reason, works for the LSP)

Harrelson is def banging the legal asst.
They split up because MM and Harrelsons wife do the hibbidy dibbidy.
Black detectives think MM is the killer.
Killer is the preacher/govn brother.
These are all my theories from the first episode. I took it from a chapter on jumping to conclusions.

Know many addicts? That's not unusual

Now this I agree with
And WH calls him out on being weird. It's not like they're passing him off as normal. Now I do want to get more into his backstory but that's obviously going to happen

Related to the death of his daughter, no doubt.
This is going to be a great first of many seasons for this show. I really like the premise.

yes. until he went to the bar, he wasn't using
and he never would have gotten hired if he was using
i mean it's not even like some guy who is a local who worked his way up then lost his mind...he just got hired from another agency in another state

Yeah, I like the tortured soul aspect and for the most part really enjoyed his character, I just think he was better when they were showing his more human side. Like being apologetic on the porch and slapping the other detective. I hope that's the direction it's going.

What's the deal with the legal assistant? I must have spaced out for a moment because I don't remember that.
Posted on 1/12/14 at 10:18 pm to SlowFlowPro
I dont really agree at all. He seems very human, albeit tragically intelligent and nihilistic. I'm extremely interested in his character.
